I covered my mouth to keep from spraying tea all over the table and just stared at him, "What?"
"Run away with me," He repeated, leaning forward.
"You've got to be joking," I furrowed my brows, studying him.
"I'm being serious, Judith."
"You have a pregnant fiancé, John. You can't just bail," I shook my head and stood.
"I can and I will. Will you at least consider my offer?" He asked, sounding slightly defeated as he looked up at m
"I'll think about it. Come on, take me home," I said and rubbed my eyes. "This is a lot to take in.."
"Alright, come'ed," He paid for the tea and took me home.
I went back to bed and just laid there. I couldn't sleep, there was too much going through my head. I laid there for about an hour before I came up with my answer. I had to tell Ringo.
It was 6 AM when I left for Richard's house, he was still asleep. I decided I'd let him sleep, but climbed under the covers with him. He must have woken up anyway, because he wrapped his arms tight around me.
"Richard, we need to talk about something.." I said quietly as Richard buried his face in my neck, kissing it softly.
"About what?" He mumbled against my skin. I bit my lip and lazily played with his hair. I didn't want to tell him. I didn't want to see his reaction, but unfortunately it was inevitable. Maybe I could state it differently.
"About John," I sighed. He froze and pulled away, looking at me through the dark with a pair of sleepy and confused blue eyes.
"What about him?" He asked, propping himself up on his elbow.
"He and I are going on a little trip together," That sounded so much better in my head.
"Where to?" He asked quietly.
"We don't know yet, but we're not coming back.." I choked a little at the thought of never seeing Richard again.
He didn't say anything and that scared me. I always thought he had something to say for everything.
"Are you mad..?" I asked meekly.
He didn't answer, instead he kissed me roughly. His cheeks were wet, maybe that's what made me start crying. I pulled him over top me and he deepened the kiss, looming over me. We rid ourselves of our clothes and made our last night together one we'd never forget.
Afterwards, I got dressed and sat on the edge of the bed. The sun was up now, illuminating the room. Richard laid under the covers and stared up at me. "Don't go.."He pleaded, his voice cracking.
"I'll keep in touch, I promise," I said, smiling.
"Why are you always willing to give him another chance, but you won't give me even one? I love you, please don't go..." He said, sitting up and kissing me.
I pulled away and looked down, "I'm sorry."
With that I stood and left him alone. I walked down the street, wiping my eyes. I knew my decision would hurt. I didn't know it'd hurt this bad.
I knocked on Paul's door, and waited. Paul answered, looking slightly surprised, "Oh, Jude, hi."
"Hey, can I see John?" I asked, sighing.
"Uh, yeah," He shut the door and not too long after, John opened it. He smiled at me, "So you thought about it?"
"I'll go," I nodded, smiling a little.
"Alright, pack some things and meet me here at noon," He gave an affirming nod.
"Noon," I repeated with a nod. "See you then."
