I had never thought about running away from the life I had and I never wanted to think about running away from anything I loved. But hearing Markus's words I began to question his reasons. The look on his face told me he wasn't joking and his tone of voice told me, even more, how serious he was being.

"Run away from here?" I asked not knowing what I had to do about running away with him or what he was running from.

"We wouldn't be necessarily running. Running isn't what I'm trying to exactly do. I only want my people to be free. I want us to be free." The way he put it made me understand. He wanted to free androids of their slavery towards humans. But why did I need to come with him to do that?

"Markus I'm a human. As much as I want to fight with you on this I don't know how it would look since... I'm not one of you." I stated sadness in my voice. He smiled at me.

"Y/n. You are an amazing person. People would understand just as much if you fought for our freedom. Heck, you might even show people that humans can walk alongside androids as people just the same. You can be an example to them." I smiled at his statement and ended up going with him. I began walking to my car with him before he stopped me. "If we go by car, surveillance cameras could pick us up. I think it's wiser to go by foot." I nodded, locking my car as we began our journey.

After about twenty minutes of walking, we made our way to the bus stop. Markus said there were clues all around the walls that would lead us to Jericho once he scanned them. I understood what he meant but I couldn't help but feel like this was like a scene out of a movie. It seemed close enough at least.

I studied Markus's face and I could tell he was focusing hard as he analyzed each symbol. The walls were decorated in graffiti-like art. Much different than the art Markus was accustomed to. Carl had always been the only person Markus had ever really known until I met him. I was sure he missed Carl as much as me. He will always remain an important person in both of our lives.

"Got it," Markus said, interrupting my thoughts as he began walking to our right. "Let's go." He said as I caught up with him. Markus and I walked side by side as we made our way toward the side of a nearby building. There was a ladder up one side and another symbol on the wall next to it.

He insisted I climb up first just in case I fall or slip from the leftover rain. I told him I would be fine but as I began to climb I became a little frightened the water would be the end of me. I know I shouldn't be afraid of something as helpful as water, but I was for the amount of time I climbed.

Water can be both harmful and helpful.

Once I made it to the top, I was so thankful that my creator hadn't decided it was my time yet. Markus on the other hand climbed without a single fear. Halfway up he stopped and scanned the symbol on the left wall and then made his way up to me. He stayed quiet for a while and then took my hand saying

"This way." As he led me to a next-door rooftop. He stopped in his tracks letting my hand fall as he stared in front of us. His eyes were wide with excitement and I followed his eyes to a sign.

It had the word Jericho painted on it with rust on all corners. The letters were a tad faded but it was still easy to understand. Below was a large hole with a long plank stretching over it. I didn't want to believe that we had to jump down but once Markus made his way over to cross it I began to feel anxious again.

"Wait. There's water down there to catch us? There is right?" I asked terrified it might not come with the additional water. Markus looked over his shoulder and smiled in spite of my fears.

"It's ok. I'm sure there's water. Why else would there be a plank." He said walking over and grabbing my hand, pulling me along to the edge of the plank with him.

"Are you ready?" He asked once again smiling with excitement in his eyes.

"Why not?" I said returning the smile.

"Alright. On three. One. Two. Three!" He said as we jumped.

He never let go of my hand and I was thankful he didn't. After quite a while of falling, we both landed in a pool of water, deep enough to hold a whale.

As I touched the water, it felt warm, and was thankful it wasn't cold. Soon enough we both bobbed to the top and made our way over to a latter on the left wall. He let me go up first again and made his way up right after me.

"Alright. Where to now?" I said ringing out my now wet hair onto the cement floor. Markus looked around and pointed to our left.

"This way." He said as I followed.

As we walked, I noticed his shoes, filled to the brink with water, and couldn't help but laugh at the new style. With every step, water spilled splashes up from his soles.

He turned his head over to me.

"What's so funny?" He asked smiling.

"Nothing it's just that the water has a good sense in fashion." He couldn't help but laugh a little at my comment and I laughed with him.

Interrupting our fun, something in front of us ran across the dirty hall making a screeching sound as it went. Out of fear, I held onto Markus's arm.

The laughter we had shared just seconds ago now echoed through the halls, making the situation even more unbearable.

"What was that?" I asked with fear lacing my voice.

"I'm not too sure. But whatever it is, I don't think it plans on attacking." He said As we continued our way toward the entrance. Once there, we came across a tightly sealed door with a wheel-like item on the front. Markus let me go and opened it.

Once we entered, we went through a hall and as we entered the next room, we had made it. The room was quite wide with maybe a handful in the room with us.

I couldn't help but feel out of place.

There was silence as we stood there.
