Daniels POV:
Riley went to bed about 3 hours ago. Now it's 11:00. I'm pretty tired. I get up and walk to my room. As I pass Riley's, her door is opened. I look inside. She's sleeping so soundly. I quietly walk in and to the side of her bed. I sit down next to her and stroke her hair. She flinches and opens her eyes. "Shhh. It's okay. I just wanna say goodnight." I said. She was probably having a bad dream. "Go back to sleep." I said. She closes her eyes as I stroke her hair. I kiss her on the forehead. "I'm gonna go sleep in my room, okay?" I said. She nods, half asleep. She's curled up in a ball on the right side of the bed. There's so much room on the other side. I really wanna sleep with her but I wanna give her some space. So I walk out of her room and into mine. My mom is already in bed, asleep. She's gonna stay here for another day or two. She was supposed to leave yesterday but she wanted to stay because she really cares about Riley. We all do. I take off my shirt and pants so I'm in my underwear. I crawl into bed and get under the covers. I'm so cold. My shivering is shaking the whole bed. I see my mom open her eyes and look at me. "You okay?" She asked as she wakes up. I nod. "I'm just really cold." I said. She pulls the covers over me so they're up to my neck. "Are you glad Riley's back?" She asked. "Yeah." I said. "Me too. I really missed her." My mom said. I remember when I walked through that door and saw her laying on the floor, helpless. She was shaking and she was covered in cuts and bruises. She looked like she was about to pass out. Tears fill my eyes remembering that. From then on I will always protect her. I will always be there for her. I will never leave her. I love her. I close my eyes and tried to stop thinking about what happened. I slowly fall asleep.
