As soon as Trey could get away from the reception, he hurried home. He entered a dark house, flipping on the foyer light to see. He found Angelique in the dark, laying on the couch in the family room.
He lightly shook her waking her from her sleep. “Ang, I’m home.”
She looked at him through glazed eyes. “What time is it?”
“A little after eleven. Is T.J. sleep?”
“He’s not here, he’s staying at your parents.”
“Why are you down here and not in bed?”
“Whatever he drugged me with made me sick again, it felt better laying here on the couch.”
“Can I do anything for you?”
“No.”
“We need to talk,” he said sitting on the floor beside her.
“I know.”
“What you saw …”
She interrupted. “What I saw was my husband getting pleased by a man.”
“I’m not going to lie, when that happened back then it really messed me up. In my heart, I don’t feel like I go both ways. I love you, I’ve never had problem being able to make love with you. Last year when you left me, damn, I was scared.”
“Why?”
“Because I’m fighting with a demon and you keep me sane.”
She wiped away a tear that had fallen. “What I think is your bisexual whether you admit or not. I can’t be your reason to claim being straight, especially if you’re not. Don’t think I’m going to sit here and bash you because I’m just as guilty. I let him violate the vows that I made with you. I allowed him to give me enjoyment even though I knew it was wrong. I told myself I was allowing it to protect our son, to protect you. I’m not even sure anymore.”
“Angelique I love you with all of my heart and soul, but I’m confused with these feelings that I get sometimes inside. Correction, only since Chad has shown up have I been feeling this way. It's only taken me to a place that I would rather forget.”
“You should have told me, just like I should have come to you instead of letting him use me the way he did. There's no excuses, I allowed him willingly and I except fault for that, all of it.”
“Where do we go from here?” asked Trey.
Her phone sounded, it was a text. She picked it up reading it, then sat up. Her eyes were closed but large tears dripped down her face.
“What’s wrong, babe tell me.”
She opened her eyes. “I can’t do this,” she said crying.
“I’m willing to do counseling,” he said thinking she was talking about their marriage.
She disregarded what he said. “I know it’s late but it’s important. Get your parents and my aunt on the line for a phone conference.”
“What’s going on?”
“Please call them, I’ll tell you all.”
He did not question her further and got everyone on the phone. “Angelique, are you ready? They’re all waiting.”
She shook her head and followed him into the kitchen. “I’m sorry to disturbed your sleep, but some things are about to happen and I needed to tell you before you hear it in the news.”
