Even a storm could not stop these two battle-hungry warriors from testing their mettle against one another.
In the midst of a cyclone, a pair of youths were locked in violent combat, vigilantly spectated by peers who feared such a confrontation enough to keep their distance. The darkened skies made it almost impossible to see the fighters, even if they wore brightly-coloured clothing. Only when the lightning strikes close do the two become visible, revealing a scene of striking red against a distinctive blue.
Each strike could be heard through the storm, crashing sounds that mimicked the thunder's deafening roar. Their fear-inducing battlecries echoed to make piercing sounds, like the howling of wolves over a precipice in a full-moon night. If those watching weren't as strong as they were, they would have either been killed by the shockwaves of force or scared away by the massive display of powers. But just like the two fighters, they were hardly mediocre.
"Yield!"
The boy clad in red offered a chance to cease combat, but was only met with a fist to the face. The force behind the punch pushed him from the sky, sending him tumbling down onto the ground many feet below. Despite this, no wounds or bruises were left by the impact—the only visible sign that there was any hit at all was the crater that was formed when the youth in red crashed onto the ground with his back. Minor collateral damage, compared to the uprooted trees and trenches that surrounded the two.
A bright blue blur moved with the coming of lightning, and once it returned, the boy in blue had his sole on his opponent's sternum. A smile of satisfaction was on his chiseled face, obviously pleased by the lack of resistance from his younger-looking opponent.
"Only three hours? I expected more from such an esteemed opponent."
"Don't get your hopes up!"
The downed youth released a surge of energy from his body, causing the other to rocket into the air. Without wasting another moment, he took to the skies in pursuit, eager for more. But the other was not so easily defeated even with depleting stamina.
In the air, combat resumed once more.
The two exchanged fist for fist, each hit sending them tumbling backwards. This stalemate seemed to continue for some time—until the red-clad boy managed to slip in a powerful kick to his opponent's head, leaving him disoriented. With the window of opportunity open, the youth in red rushed towards his foe with full speed.
The youth in red attempted to drive his fist into his dazed opponent's torso, but miscalculated the direction and rushed straight past him. His fist, glowing with his battle aura, managed to graze the other's face, drawing blood in a wound that is akin to one that would be made with a blade.
The blue-clad youth quickly recovered his senses and soared after his foe. He was faster in flight, and managed to grab the other's ankle. He gave a violent squeeze, which was then responded to with a yelp of pain.
His opponent did not take it so lightly, and repaid the favour with a powerful kick from the other foot. However, since the boy in blue was still holding onto his ankle, he was dragged down as well, earning both of them faces full of dirt.
"Finish it already!"
The two turned their heads to a feminine voice, and then nodded in acknowledgement.
In one swift movement, the youth in blue took down his opponent. The actions were too fast for anyone to see, but the results were visible. He now had control over his opponent.
"This will be over soon."
Red-orange flames burst forth from the blue-clad boy's arms. Soon, his entire back and arms were on fire, making him look like a bonfire in the middle of the rain. The flames were hot enough to turn any of the raindrops that touched it to steam, but the blue gi he wore and his opponent's skin seemed to resist the searing heat.
Despite having no visible burns, the boy in red screamed in pain. He had already exhausted himself by ripping apart clumps of earth earlier, and he had little stamina to do much more. These flames ate his energy as well as cause pain—it was only a matter of time before his protection fades and the flames do some permanent damage.
In a desperate attempt, the boy in red let loose a surge of electricity, which was made even more deadly with the downpour around them. The sparks spread like the hyperactive growth of a plant's roots, sending bolts to his peers that they desperately tried to avoid. It was unbridled electricity, and the boy in blue was knocked unconscious. Unsurprisingly, the boy in red soon followed suit.
After a few moments, the spectators closed in on the pair. One of them, a tanned female that others seemingly kept their distance from, moved towards the pair and separated them from one another. She seemed slightly distressed upon looking at the red-clad boy, and ran her hands down numerous scratches and wounds that were only appearing after the battle. With a heavy sigh, she carried the taller male over her shoulder.
"I will take Ren over to our master. Make sure that this place gets repaired soon. And don't leave Ryugasaki to die."
With that, she dashed off, as fast as the other two in combat. The ones who were left behind looked at each other in underwhelming expressions, as of expecting the damage beforehand. Since almost nobody wanted to inch closer to the blue-clad youth, who still had fire burning from his shoulder blades, another lass took the initiative.
"I'll clean him up myself. As for this place, I think it needs a little tidying up, so please follow through with the orders."
