Things will never be the same.
Dabbling around with Arthurian Legends is big business. Outside the romanticised themes, you see a lot of things going on. Terrible and heart-wrenching scenes, like Tristan's death and Gawain regretting his inability to let go of a grudge. Outside the inflated bright sides and dark sides and flaws, kinks in the armour that these Knights wear. They can be wounded. They can be hurt. They are not perfect.
But what makes things more awful... is what could be.
What if Mordred never really wanted to be branded as a traitor? What if the whole battle of Camlann was a misunderstanding, or a trick?
What if Morgawse and Morgan realised that they had done terrible things? How would it affect them inside?
What if Arthur had to live knowing that he had killed someone just so that he could become King? How would a utilitarian 'sacrifice one for the many' affect the psyche of the youth who aspired to save everyone regardless of alignment?
Just a few terrible thoughts that cripple me.
