Here's the second chapter, I hope you guys like it! Sorry that this update took almost three days, I've just been a bit busy with stuff. By the way, I plan for this fanfiction to have around twenty chapters. (UPDATE: or closer to thirty, and two other books with it, change of plans past me-)

Chapter Two: Wings...?

Mikey's POV...

The street shone in the lamp light, the formerly relaxing breeze now turned to a fierce wind that relentlessly pursued the mission of beating against my body, which was practically frozen in fear. As the ground advanced towards me, I tried not to whimper my pain, instead weakly wrapping my arms around my head.

What would I look like!

Sprawled out on the pavement. Maybe even bloody, just like the poor creatures out in the country, which had caused me too often not go to town during our 'vacation' at the Farm House in fear of seeing the road kill.

Leo... Raphie... Donatello...

"I wish I showed my brothers I loved them more..." I whisper, tightly shutting my eyes as the pavement flashed just beneath me.

I waited for the harsh impact, knowing that I would instantly be dead. Because I had been taught that unlike in my comic books, heroes get hurt and take time to heal.

In real life... Heroes can die.

Goodbye, everyone...

.......

..........?

................??

Shouldn't I have felt excruciating pain by now? I mean, I should have slammed against hard cement a few moments ago, so why-

My thoughts were rudely cut off when a ripple of agony coursed through the back of my shell, immediately followed by the sound of my pained scream. I wildly opened my eyes to find myself hovering inches above the dirty street, and as another yell ripped from my throat, I dropped to the ground the same instant.

With the back of my shell feeling as if I truly had collided with the cement, I stumbled to my feet and hurried into a dark alley. Whimpering in pain, I shakily climbed up a fire escape, collapsing on the roof as soon as I pulled myself over the ledge.

"OWWWWW!" I whine, beginning to frantically roll back and forth too try to cease the pain.

It suddenly became several times worse, and I let out a scream of agony, a noise that came from deep within my soul. My vision was flickering with white and black as I violently clawed at the rooftop surface, soundlessly crying out as my sore throat stopped me from screaming any longer.

A terrible crunching came from behind me, and it took a few moments before I realized it was coming from me.

I let out a strangled croak as the pain seemed to blind me, the strange and gut wrenching sounds coming from the back of my shell filling me with pain and the frantic urge to throw up... And, finally...?

It was silent.

The pain seemed to fade away into the distance, only a faint thrum of discomfort, leaving as quickly as it had so harshly come to be.

Practically crying in relief, I staggered to my feet and lurched to the side, grabbing onto the roof ledge to avoid falling. When my eyes landed on the remote street below, I wearily stepped backwards, quickly looking around me.

Why does the back of my shell feel so heavy...?

I stiffened when the observation came to mind, freshly remembering the horrible and painful waves of agony that had continuously rippled through my back for minutes straight.

Ever so slowly, I carefully looked over my shoulder.

My eyes landed on something that left me speechless; a beautiful, fluffy black thing. When I turned my head to the other side, I saw an identical one staring back at me.

Are those... Wings? Like, the type that if you have you can say "I can fly!", and are now for some unexplainable reason ATTACHED TO THE BACK OF MY SHELL???

Just as my thoughts were piecing the events together, the world seemed to tilt.

No matter how much I fought it off, the relentless pull towards unconsciousness consumed me...
