Hey guys, here's the new chapter, sorry for the five day wait. And thanks for over 3k reads! I'll update a new chapter soon.

Chapter Twenty-Nine: Stuck in daydreams

The rest of us just stood in stunned silence; even Doku seemed to be momentarily taken aback by Karasu's rudeness, and I couldn't help but wince.

Well, I hope the rest of this journey will be a bit more jolly...

"My apologies for the child; he is still learning the ways and manners of people." Usagi pressed his hands together, bowing slightly to Rosebud and Doku.

Karasu looked away, snorting, but I saw the flash of weariness in his eyes.

"It's fine!" Rosebud jumped a bit, grinning.

"Now that the introduction is over, would anyone care to explain where exactly we are going next? Or maybe where we are headed in general?" Doku asked, flicking her pointed tail as she leaned back against one the boulders.

Usagi and Karasu didn't seem surprised by her words, but both me and Rosebud wore looks of astonishment.

"You're- you're coming with us??" I question, clearly surprised.

I thought she said that she would just take us here, I never expected her to continue with us?

"Um, yeah? That's what I kinda hinted at, if you were listening?" Doku rolled her eyes, giving me an exasperated look.

"In answer to your question, young Doku," Usagi started, looking back at us. "We are going to the City of Light." He carefully sheathed his other katana, then turning back.

"But we must go quickly, to reach it before the sun sets!" He called over his shoulder, beginning to walk away.

The rest of us quickly scurry after him, not wanting to get left behind so close to the dark forest.

I found myself walking in the middle of the group, Rosebud a few feet to my left. She was anxiously flicking her tail, but her bright eyes showed wonder as she studied the area around us.

"So, what is the City of Light?" I asked, curiously tipping my head.

Rosebud didn't speak for a few moments, and wondering if she hadn't heard, I prepared to repeat the question. But then she twitched her whiskers, opening her jaws to speak.

"I've never been so far away from Hinasho before. But when I sometimes studied maps with Raibu, I learned a little knowledge of this area, and the City of Light." She glanced over at me, pricking her ears.

"Why did they name it that? Is it like made of light or something?" I grinned, and she playfully rolled her eyes, gently batting at my foot.

"No, silly! It's called that because of the crystals, which reflect the light from any source in the sky." She explained.

After a couple seconds, I nodded in understanding- but in reality, was more confused then ever.

"That sounds... Cool?" I murmured, and she happily nodded in agreement.

After a few more minutes of walking, I slowed my pace. I allowed the others to pull ahead, deciding to cover the back of our traveling group.

Seriously though, I don't even know where we're going half of the time.

For all I know, we could be soon going across a mountain range made of lava, that erupts gas that's laced with pounds of poison or something!

Although it may seem strange, considering that would definitely not be fun, I couldn't help but laugh at my thoughts.

The visuals in my mind made me remember our adventures in space, when we went to that lava planet to retrieve the final piece of the blackhole generator.

But that time was long over, nearly five months ago.

And my friends and family? They were in a whole other world, where I was apparently fading away, maybe even about to burst into dust. And, it was only then that I realized...

I might die there... or here...

How in the world could I ever get back to Earth THEN...?

"Michelangelo? Is there something that troubles you?" Usagi's questioning voice made me snap out of my thoughts, and I winced.

Turning to look at him, I realized we were both a short distance behind the others- he must had come back to me when I slowed down.

"Oh, uh-" I begin, silently shaking my head. "No, nothing really, sorry Usagi dude, I was just... Stuck in daydreams, I guess..." I trailed off, not meeting his eyes.

In truth, there were many things troubling me.

My visions, fading away on Earth, defeating Jai, the prophecy- which I still don't understand- and those are only a few of the things!

But in all honesty, if I had to choose one thing that made me the most terrified...

It was the fact that I was far from home and my brothers, my friends, my city; and that was something that had never happened to me before.

I'm not used to feeling so alone sometimes...

Shell, I'm beginning to forget things! Things that I would easily remember before!

I haven't talked to Icecream Kitty for over a week, or trained in who knows how long; I've forgotten the smell of pepperoni, the stories of Leatherhead's adventures he told me about; most of our route during patrol, where I hid Raph's favorite comic, how much I enjoyed cooking...

Sighing, I trailed after the others, dully noting the fact that glittering stone could now be seen just past the forest ahead.

I really, really just want to go back home...

And I'm beginning to wonder if I ever will for good.
