Chapter 8

~Dakota's P.O.V~

There was a change in plans and the guys couldn't make it. The rode was blocked to clean up after the accident. Jake and Andy stayed a little longer we talked and at one point Jake went to sit down and completely missed the chair and we all laughed. The nurse came in it must of been really late and told Jake and Andy that they would have to leave. "When will she be released?" Jake asked the nurse. "She will be released tomorrow, but she will have to go with Mr. and Mrs. Owen" the nodded and headed out of the room. She gave me some medicine and a cough drop for my throat. She left the room also turning the lights off.

I woke the next morning and looked out the window. It was a rainy gloomy day, they were my favorite day because I stay inside and read a good book while drink hot chocolate. I heard a knock on my door and turned my head to see the nurse she is came in the room and laid my clothes I wore to the concert at the end of my bed and took the IV that was in my arm and said it was to leave she gave me my medicine. I walked to the bathroom and changed into my clothes. I stood in the mirror and admired all the signatures on the the shirt and washed my face clear of all the old makeup.

I walked out of the bathroom and the nurse was still there. She started to walk out of the room and asked for me to follow. I spoke up "Can I see Violet?" she nodded and we walked to her room she was still asleep and the nurse said I could go in the room. I didn't say anything I looked at her and I took my phone out of her purse and laid it at the end of her bed. In the purse there was a note that said I am sorry for what happened I know you are strong and can get over the obstacles that will soon be ahead I Will always be there for you. Love your bestest friend Dakota.

A tear escaped my eye while looking at my best friend knowing she was paralyzed and I will be all alone for the last month of our senior year. 'She wont be able to go across that stage' that thought made more tears stream down my face, all Violet talks about that the day we graduate and going across that stage. I walk out to the room and found the nurse that walked me down to the front desk where I see Violet's mom doing some paper work to have me released.

We headed out of the hospital to there car. "Dakota the hospital said that you had to stay with us for until your birthday which I know is tomorrow. Would you want to come stay at our house or go home?" I crocked out "I want to stay at my house?" she nodded she understood that it would be weird for me to stay at her house while my friend is in the hospital.

The drive back to my house was quiet. Neither one of us said anything until we pulled into the driveway of my house. "Dakota we will be around six to have dinner if that is okay?" I nodded my head and gave her a hugged her. I walked up to the door and unlocked the door. Home Sweet Home I thought to myself as I was greeted by an darkness that I am so familiar with.
