13 : being this way
••••••••••

April had went home that day and cried her eyes out. What she felt was nothing but pure heartbreak, and she hated feeling so vulnerable like this. Her parents and little sister were very concerned, but all she told them was to leave her alone. She couldn't sleep, she couldn't eat, and she definitely didn't have the strength to call up Venus and beg her to take her back. April was numb but she still felt the pain in her broken heart. She didn't understand why things had to be this way. Her feelings had gotten the best of her and now she is all tore up. Maybe things weren't meant to be, she had thought to herself.

Venus had went home that day too, locking herself in her bedroom since her parents were constantly fighting. She was very oblivious to the fact that she had ruined her friendship with April, and she was really going to regret it soon. All she was thinking about is how scared she was going to be if people at her school found out that she liked April. She didn't have a problem with people who liked the same sex, she supported them to the full max because she believed in love. But she never thought about being with another girl whatsoever—nor her very own bestfriend.

It was Monday and the weekend seemed to past by really quick much to their displeasure. April didn't want to face Venus and Venus didn't want to face April, but they had to go to school. They didn't have enough time to pull themselves together, which meant that they had to somehow see each other one way or another. To still give each other some space they didn't talk to each other at all today, they didn't sit by each other at lunch, and they didn't go to their lockers at the same time when school was let out. But since it was at the end of the day Venus decided that she would finally talk to April, hoping they could discuss this situation and work something out.

Venus had saw April heading out the school, and she jogged up to the girl, "Hey, can we talk?"

April didn't even look at her way, "What about?"

"Ya know..about what happened last Friday," Venus inquires, looking around nervously just in case nobody was ear hustling in their conversation.

"No, I'm good," April passed and made a right turn so she could get to her car.

"C'mon April, don't be like this," Venus sighs reaching out to grab April's hand.

"I got stuff to do and I don't wanna talk," April snatched her hand back, irritated laced in her voice. She continued walking in hopes of getting away from Venus, but she kept tagging along.

"April, this is important," Venus says in a whiny voice.

"I could care less what's important to you. And as I said before, I don't wanna talk," April kept her voice calm, still heading towards her car.

"Can we just talk it out?" Venus asks once more. "Please?"

"I'm sorry, aren't you afraid of associating with me? I don't think you should be talking to me if you're whole reputation is at stake," April snorted, finally reaching her car.

Venus huffed and grabbed April's wrist, pulling the girl back to her, "Okay look, you need to stop this right now and talk to me."

"I don't have to do shit for you," April seethed out with her eyebrows pinching together in a frown.

"Why are you being this way?" Venus was hurt, and she didn't understand why April was being so cold to her.

April chuckled bitterly and clasped her hands together, "Are you seriously asking me that? C'mon, you must be joking."

"You're being mean to me April," Venus stated with a cross of her arms.

"Well guess what? I don't care how you feel at this point, I don't give a flying fuck actually," April bluntly tells her.

"How can I you just say that?" Venus felt like her heart was breaking little by little, and she did not like this feeling at all. "We're..we're supposed to be bestfriends."

"Fuck that now," April spat, her blood was boiling at this point. "Did you forget what you wanted? Please tell me you didn't forget that easily."

"I-I don't understand," Venus was confused and absolutely afraid of what was going on—she was so clueless.

April was livid, not giving a single fuck if people around them hears what she was about to say, "Remember how you wanted to drop everything we had? You know, when you fucking stabbed me in the back because you were so scared that Diana was gonna tell everybody that we had something going on? You wanted to drop everything, did you fucking forget already?"

"I didn't mean everything April," Venus croaked. "D-Don't be like this."

"Nah, I'm dropping everything like you wanted. It's the only thing that's gonna stop you from looking like a fool in front of all this people you care about impressing so much," April looked at Venus with a disappointment and angry expression on her face. She couldn't believe that her own bestfriend had turned on her.

"I meant our fling dammit. I meant we can drop our fling, not our friendship," Venus explains trying her best not to let the worst happen. She walked forward, taking April's hands and kissing her knuckles, hoping that this would work like the other times.

"A fling," April chuckled bitterly as she snatched her hands away from Venus. "Well I'm dropping our fling and you."

Venus's heart stopped the moment she heard those words come out of April's mouth. The way April was looking at her made chills go down her body. But still, she thought April was bluffing, "You can't do that to us April," Venus tried to stay strong and hold her ground, but it was getting harder and harder.

"I can and I will. Because since you don't give a fuck about me, I'm not gonna give a fuck about you," April thundered. "And I'm sorry, but I can't do this anymore," April shrugs. "You wanted to drop everything so this is what you wanted. I'm just here to save your image since you care about that than you care about me."

"April please," Venus cried trying to hold on to her hands but April pushed her back which made her stumble backwards onto the gravel. She watched as April got into her car, and it was tearing her apart the way she showed no remorse for her. "April wait!" She pleaded getting up from the ground, banging on the window. "It was a mistake! Please! Don't let me go like this!" She sobbed out.

But it was just too late because April was gone, and Venus had finally came to a realization that she let the only good thing in her life slip away.
