before i had truly known that time could go so quickly it had come around for another holiday as i had stood on the outskirts of the auditorium. my arms were held tight around the clip board as i had consisted of a silly turkey hat while watching the children in the thanksgiving play. "hey joey, are you liking it so far?" alex, the theatre teacher, had questioned in a hushed tone me as i turned around to face the man. my smile growing when i overlook the man dressed in a turkey shirt with numerous items in his hands.

"yeah alex, of course. they are always good." i compliment as he nods softly. alex and i had never spoke too often and when i did he somehow caused my hands to shake a little. saying this man was genuinely kind and attractive was an understatement. i had enjoyed the presence of alex and so when he smiles at me it felt like butterflies had not only fluttered in my tummy but kissed the walls of it.

"so how are you? with life and the boyfriend?" he brings up now as i let my smile fade a little when i only hold the clipboard in one hand now as i tuck a strand of hair behind my ear.

"oh me and my boyfriend aren't together anymore."

"oh really? i'm sorry." he informs me as i shrug my shoulders with a simper still pasted on my lips.

"good riddance, right? well i don't know he probably felt that the other way around because he cheated on me." i rant trying to laugh it off now as alex only looks with sorrow as he forms an o with his parted lips. "but yeah anyways what are you doing this thanksgiving?" i question now trying to change the subject now as the man takes a breath of air.

"well i normally spent it with my grandma-"

"that's so nice."

"but she just died." he finishes as i loose the grin now from the last part of his statement which only lets me frown now. my hand going to his shoulder as i pat the area sort of oddly.

"i'm so sorry, wow." i state causing him to try to put up a chuckle as he shakes his head.

"it's alright. it was around september when i wrote the halloween play." he tells me as i nod aware of this fact when thinking more to myself instead.

"oh no wonder the script was kind of a darker than usual." i add letting alex agree as he finally takes a deep sigh before my hand removes from his body.

"well i should get going. help the kids for the next scene." he states as he begins to walk away from my presence as i call out his name which lets him stop. he turns to me as i take a few steps back near him.
