13 // Before Aspen

Jakes POV-
I hated seeing her cry. I know Chance's opinion means a lot to her. I also hated that i came between them. All i knew was that Erika was the one, who i wanted to be with for a long time.

Jake: Erika..
Erika: yeah?
Jake: will you stop crying? For me. I hate seeing you cry.

She sniffles and wiped her tears. Shes was laying on my chest, but quickly sat up. Her face was a little swollen because of her crying. Her eyes were red and her hair was all tangled.

Jake: Rik, why are you crying? We are together no matter what anyone says. Im all for you.

I rubbed my thumb on the back of her hand and she looks down and faintly smiles.

Erika: well. First i was crying because i was very mad. But i got to thinking and then i got sad. I just want him to be fine with this.

She was fiddling her fingers and looked down the whole time. I felt horrible. I grabbed her hand and pulled her back on me. I sat there and straddled her.
We stayed like this all night.

Next Day -
Erikas Pov-
I woke up today in Jakes arms. I smiled at how precious he looked and kissed his cheek.
Today we were going to Aspen for Tessas birthday weekend. I was excited. But nervous because i would have to see Chance. I still have to go home and pack.
I grabbed for my phone and i had 7 miss calls and 12 unread messages.
2 calls from Mom, 4 from Chance and 1 from Tony. The messages were mostly Chance. I opened the ones with my mom and noticed that Jake answered her and said i was here. I smile and open Chance's messages.

Chance: Answer your phone Erika.
Chance: ERIKA
Chance: dude, stop acting like a child and answer someone
Chance: YOURE WITH HIM RIGHT NOW!?
Chance: come home we need to talk

My smile quickly left my face. I rolled my eyes and locked my phone back up. We are supposed to leave in 8 hours, so i decide to get up and sneak to my house. In that failed attempt, both Logan and Tessa caught me.

Logan: well well well.
Tessa: RIK! You were here the whole time!?! Chance was looking for you all night.
Erika: he knew i was here.
Logan: and not in my bed-
Erika: unfortunately

We exchange a small giggle and i head out so i could pack.
Once i get in my house I am greeted by my mom.

Angel: Hey sweetie. Are you okay?
Erika: i will be.
Angel: are you still going on that trip? With everyone.
Erika: yeah, i have to pack for it right now.
Angel: i want to know what happened with you and your brother..
Erika: wanna come up and help me pack? Ill explain everything.  

My mom pulls me into a hug and we stay in the hug for a while.

Angel: okay rik. Lets go!

We went up to my room and I grabbed one of my suitcases from my closet, while my mom sat on my bed.

Angel: so, what happened.
Erika: well first i should tell you about Jake and I becoming close. More than friends but less that boyfriend/girlfriend.
Angel: Really!!?! Omg Pam and I were just talking about that the other day!
Erika: really? Well anyways. Remember what i told you happened the night of the party- it was with Jake. And ever since then we've been flirting and talking a lot. And im starting to catch feelings mom. I really like this kid. And i know he feels the same way because we had a conversation about it.
Angel: well where is the problem?
Erika: Its chance! He doesn't want me dating Jake, but He can date Tessa. Its so annoying. He says its not the same thing, but tell me mom! How is it not the exact same thing!?
