"That was good," My client stated while licking his lips and glancing down at me while excluding the ally and throwing some money at me. I stood up, set my black shirt dress down, and picked up $200 from the ground, figuring I would get whatever they usually pay out.
I made my way out and walked to the hood. Where shooting occurs every day, robbery, drug addicts by the corner asking for money, I couldn't wait to move and find something better for myself and my family.
I just turned twenty, graduated from high school two years ago, and unfortunately was unable to enroll in college because my mother fell very ill the same year I received my diploma. I had to look after my three siblings and help her. My stepfather was murdered a few days after my mother learned she had ataxia.
I looked for employment that would help me to cover my expenses and provide food for my siblings, but they weren't sufficient, so I turned to prostitution. I understand that stripping is a far better option than this, but what ass would I be shaking if I made this decision? I'm not satisfied with what I'm doing, but at least it pays the bills and takes care of other household duties.
After 30 minutes walk to my house and being greeted by some drug dealers.As I opened the door with my keys and felt the chilly air from the house contact my warm body, I immediately closed the door.
I muttered, "Freezing in here," and set my keys on a nearby table before going to check on my sister in their bed to make sure they were sleeping. I grinned, shut the door, and took a bath after going to my mom's room and finding my younger brother sleeping with her.
Afterward, I walked to the kitchen seeing that we ran out of cereal and milk. Signing I wrote it down on a piece of paper. I grabbed a cup of water for my mom just in case she gets thirsty.
We had to relocate from a nice middle-class house with five bedrooms to a modest property with two bedrooms when my stepdad was killed.
I entered the room with two twin beds that my sisters and I shared. In order for me to lay down, I moved my sister a little.
The next morning
The alarm went off, and I awoke along with my sisters. My little brother was awakened when I entered my mother's room.
"Get ready for school," I told him and he rubbed his eyes, walking out. I walked into the kitchen and got the bag of bread above the refrigerator, which were only 3 left. I got some peanut butter from the cabinet and made them peanut butter sandwiches. I grabbed 6 lemons and made lemonade juice. I know the weird combination, but that's all we have until later.
"Kat, I need new pants for school" My sister Hennessy whose just 14, walked in showing me her only jeans that fit her ripped.
"You don't have anything?" She shakes her head no
"Some don't fit me anymore and some are dirty, and Delilah won't let me borrow any" I nodded
"Don't tell Delilah and Sean you not going to school" I told her, and she grinned, nodded, and ran upstairs. Later, Delilah and Sean came down and finished their breakfast.
"I have a science presentation after school," Sean said with food in his mouth,
"What have I said about talking with food in your mouth?" I told him "What time?"
"I don't remember" I nodded
"Did my report card come?" Delilah asked getting up and putting her cup and plate in the sink, Delilah was a mini-me she's my sister from both dad's and mom's sides, she and I have mostly our dad's genes than my mom but sadly he left us when Delilah was born. besides Sean and Hennessy who are twins and related from mom's side, they both have my mom's genes, but mostly Sean either way I still treat them equally.
"I don't think so, I hope you got good grades" I looked at her and she giggled
"I do sis, chill"
"Chill? who showing you this thing"
"Really Kat" I shake my head and clean their plates once Sean finished.
"Let's go take y'all to school," I told them and they got their backpacks
"Isn't Hennessy going?" I shake my head no and close the door with my other
"No, she's not feeling good" Delilah nodded, and we walked together to school dropping them off first and making sure I asked the teacher at what time was the event.
"Bye sis" Delilah Smiled waving at me walking into her school
I walked to a nearby store, shopping for what I needed to buy.
"That would be Seventy-six and thirty-eight cents Mami," the Spanish guy said and I passed him 100 dollars bills, when I got my change I placed it inside the bags and grabbed my bags making my way home.
When I got home, I saw my mom sitting at the dining table eating Hennessy's sandwich, I'm guessing Hennessy helped her down the stairs.
"Hey mom," I said and she gave me a weak smiled
"Hey h-honey, what did y-you get?" she asked stumbling her words
"I got a few things from the corner store that we may need" She nodded
"Y-you pay th-the bill?" She asked, drinking some lemonade
"Already done ma"
"Just ma-making sure"
"I know" I shouted for Hennessy to help me while I was putting some things away; in the meantime, my mother took her medication, I helped her up the stairs, and she fell back asleep. I do a little amount of housekeeping.
Before picking up my siblings, I bought a few clothes for them with the money I had left and for Sean's performance.
"There was a fight today," Delilah said getting excited to tell us the story
"What happens?" Hennessy asked
"The neighbor's daughter fought the daughter of the corner store owner because her boyfriend kissed her"
Oh wow
"You not friends with them, right?" I asked not wanting her to be involved with them or any drama
"Of course not, I am a child of God," She said with her hand on her chest, Hennessy giggled
"Keep it the way," I said, walking up the stairs of Sean's school.
"I sure will," Delilah said flipping her hair and then started to gossip with Hennessy.
