Oluchi walked into Nnenne's hostel room, she saw Adaeze seated on the bed. Disgusted by her presence, she gave Adaeze a very dirty look and sighed. Oluchi proceeded to bring down Nnenne's Ghana-must-go bag from on top her corner.
She placed it on the floor, unzipped it and started unhanging Nnenne's dresses from inside the corner and threw them into the bag. She didn't want to spend another second in Adaeze's presence.
Adaeze rolled her eyes and said nonchalantly
"If you have something to say to me,just say it and stop the useless attitude because it's not getting to me one bit"Oluchi who was bending and putting in Nnenne's belongings, stopped and turned to her.
"Do you even have a heart? After all you've done, you don't even feel a bit of remorse."
"How could you even do something so grievous to a woman like you?" Adaeze had her face facing a different direction.Oluchi looked Adaeze up and down and went on.
"A person like you doesn't deserve to be called a woman"
"I curse the day Nnenne met a beast like you"
"Are you done?" Adaeze rolled her eyes to her.
"First, let me make one thing clear. Nnenne is a woman alright but she's nothing like me." She pointed out, maintaining eye contact."Secondly, Your here taking paracetamol for another person headache. The person you're fighting for doesn't even have a thing. I'm the one that has been taking care of her since she got here"
Oluchi arched an eyebrow, looking at her in mockery.
"Well, you won't have to take care of her anymore because thanks to your silly plan you drew lanre and Nnenne closer"
"So at the end of the day you're still a sore loser" she pointed out.
Adaeze's expression dulled."Now, if you'd excuse me, I have better things to do than waste time with people that think of stabbing others in the back instead of bettering themselves." Oluchi sighed and carried Nnenne's belongings and left, leaving Adaeze fuming.

Lanre was asleep by the bedside drawer. Earlier, he refused to relax on the couch, because he felt if he did, he would sleep off and loose track of time for Nnenne's medication.
Nnenne woke up from sleep to see him sound asleep like a baby. He was seated on the floor with his head relaxed on the bed. She gazed at him, her eyes sparkling with admiration.
After much hesitation, she reached to run her hand on his head, but held back when the alarm went off and he woke up.
"It's time for your medication" he reminded as he stood up and looked at his watch. He put off the alarm, drew out the first drawer and took out her medication. He placed it on the table and headed to the kitchen to get some water and juice.
Nnenne watched him all through.
He sat by her and picked up the cards with the tray placed on the bed, beside her. She pouted her lips with her brows knitted up and shook her head in disapproval and disgust. She'd always hated drugs, she rather preferred injections.
He closed an eye and shook his head slightly, he was indirectly telling her to behave. She complied and he smiled, releasing the drugs into her open palm.
He handed her a glass of water and she drank. With his eye contact, he questioned if she was alright, to which she nodded sheepishly in agreement. He smiled softly and retired to the kitchen.
Few minutes later, he returned with a bed stool and a tray with food. It was boiled yam and scrambled egg. He placed it on the bed before her.
"Don't yab me oh!—don't taunt me oh!" He reminded. She looked at him, shook her head, grinning as she picked up the cutlery placed by the corner.
She took the first bite and it was delicious, but it was extremely spicy. She started coughing.
"I'm so sorry!" He sprinted into an apology as they both quickly reached for the glass of orange 5 alive juice that was seated on the bedside drawer. Their hands touched, causing them to turn to each other and their eyes met in a romantic eye lock.Nnenne had somehow forgotten the burning feeling in her throat as she was lost in his eyes. The ring of door bell snapped them both back to reality. He nervously released his grip from the glass, averted his gaze and dashed to open the door. It was Oluchi.
"Here are all her things. I'm so sorry, I can't stay. I'm already late for my lecture" she scurried in and dropped Nnenne's belongings.
"I'd come back later, take care of yourself" she waved Nnenne and left. Nnenne smiled back.Lanre did everything possible and in his power to make sure Nnenne recovered quickly: from breakfast in bed to making sure she took her medications on time. He took her for her therapy section and waited till she was done and much more.
In a few weeks, Nnenne was back on her feet again, although she still had scary nightmares every once in a while, she was better and stronger. She told lanre about her plans to file an assault case against Ayomide and he agreed.
After that was done, Ayomide was arrested and charged to court. He was later released on bail since there was no solid evidence placed before the jury to prove he was guilty. The court hearing was adjourned. The judge gave both lawyers a month to get and prepare proof to back up their cases.
Lanre's lawyer advised that they would need a weighty evidence, like a witness to add to the hospital reports to win the case. So they spent most of the time, looking for evidence to put Ayomide behind bars parmanently.
When Nnenne heard that her grades had dropped in school, due to her absence, she was eager to resume before the final exams. She refused to pay attention to what she knew people were saying about her.

Tuesday morning:
At around eight in the morning, Lanre and Nnenne arrived school. As soon as they came down everyone watched after them with searching faces.Lanre was worried about Nnenne and offered that they go back home, but she refused. She was ready to face her problems head on.
"Whether I want to hear it or not, they'd still talk Lanre." She said, flatly.
"And I'm okay with that. I've learned to be, because I realized my past cannot be changed, erased, edited or forgotten. It can only be accepted, if I want to make it out better from this"
"Aristotle once said that an ideal man bears the accidents of life with dignity and grace. Making the best out of circumstances. And that's what I'm gonna do" she assured."See you being all wisdom quoetish" he teased, smiling.
She shook her head.
"Your courage is one thing I admire about you"
"Go get them tiger!" He encouraged as he fist bumped her on the shoulder. She admired him, grinned and headed to her lecture hall.
