Here is the next chapter!
((10 years later))
"Hello?!" Keefe yelled. There was thick forest all around him and no one to be seen for miles. It was the perfect place to hide from the Neverseen, the group he never wanted to join in the first place. He had only done it for Sophie, and now she treated him like a stranger. Like he had changed somehow after trying to join the "enemy". His mother was one of the leaders and he had to figure out why she left him, ignored him. He had felt Sophie's sadness as she saw him that day, the day he left. If only he could run back to her, feel her hug around him, hopefully able to fix his broken parts. Keefe sighed, kneeling down in the midst of dead leaves. A river rushed by, the water gurgling, almost as if it was laughing at him. Keefe suddenly heard a snap of a stick. He stood up, ready for anything. He breathed deeply and tried to feel the emotions of whatever was on the verge of an attack. He felt a quiet calm and realized the creature was an elf. "Come out!!" He yelled, hating how his voice was shaky. A young boy about his age came out of the shadows, a bow in hand, an arrow notched in the wood. His dark green cloak floated around his brown boots and dark grey pants. His green and blue tunic with mud showed how much of a survivor he was. Keefe stumbled back when he saw a sleek grey wolf next to the boy. The wolf frightened him most, and he shivered as he noticed its sapphire blue eyes. It had a navy blue teardrop necklace around its neck fur. "Who are you? What are you doing here?" The boy asked, not lowering the bow and arrow.
"I'm Keefe.... Keefe Sencen." Keefe kept staring at the strange wolf.
The boy looked from the wolf to Keefe and something passed between the two, as if the wolf could communicate to him. The boy suddenly shook his head. "What are you doing here?" He asked again, taking a step forward. The wolf growled a bit at the boy, and the boy grew frustrated. "Ugh stop it! We are NOT bringing him back to the house! Who knows what he could be! What if he is a part of them? Haven't you learned your lesson?!" The boy shouted at the wolf.
Keefe stood there, surprise and confusion weaving through his emotions like a blanket. "Are you speaking to the wolf?" He asked taking a step forward hesitatingly.
The boy looked at him distrustingly. "What makes you think I'm talking to it?"
"Trust me I know a Telepath when I see one. Though I only know one other person that has been able to actually transmit and have a conversation with an animal. Listen, I am just trying to find a secluded place. I didn't even know you were here. At all. Please if you know where I can find a place to sleep for the night? I mean cmon. Who would wanna stay out here at night? Definitely not you huh?" Keefe tried to make a joke but the boy just glared at him.
Then he sighed. "One night. One only alright?" The boy said looking at Keefe and unlatching the arrow from its slot. "Follow me." the boy said and disappeared into the foliage. The wolf streaked off after him leaving Keefe stunned. He tried to race after them but kept getting whacked in the face with branches. He could barely see the tip of the sleek green cloak. Suddenly the boy stopped. Keefe ran straight into him and fell down, the wind knocked out of him. The boy shook his head and smiled. "Welcome to Rosemary Gardens."
