Chapter 12: Lonely spaces
****************Keefe***************
"There has to be something I can do! I gotta try..." Keefe said, pacing the length of his cell. Sophie had just transmitted to him everything that had happened and he was horrified. Sophie's transmitting had stopped suddenly and he had heard screaming, so something must have happened.
"I can't believe..." Elvie hadn't told him she was a dragon. He had fallen in love with a dragon! He punched the wall, severely regretting it afterwards. Keefe sat down on the floor, looking down at his boots.
He looked up as he heard keys jangling at his door. "Gethen," Keefe said, glaring at the figure in front of him.
"Hehe, miss me kid? Last time we saw each other was when you tried to pretend to be your mother. Glad she healed," he smirked.
Keefe glared at him in silence.
Gethen rolled his eyes. "Fine. Just get up we're leaving."
Keefe stayed sitting. "Where are we going?"
Gethen shook his head. "Nope, no tricks. I can't tell you."
Keefe silently stood up, Gethen coming inside the cell to tie his hands behind him.
As they walked out of the cell, Keefe looked for Sophie in the hallway through the dungeon. He finally saw her at the end of the tunnel.
"Sophie!"
She looked up at Keefe as Gethen slapped him. "Shut up!"
"Keefe! Be careful! She isn't herself!!!!" Sophie yelled as Gethen shoved Keefe up the stairs.
They walked up the stairs and through a hall quietly.
They went through a door where hidden figures were standing.
Keefes eyes grew wide. "No. Nuh uh. I am not rejoining. I can't and I won't."
The one in front threw back her hood. "You will have to," Lady Gisela said.
Keefe glared at her. "Why are you here?"
Lady Gisela rolled her eyes. "Honestly Keefe, you are smarter than that."
Keefe growled, mumbling something about mothers.
"Let's just go come on," Gethen said, pushing Keefe forward. Lady Gisela and Brant held up a pathfinder to the light as everyone else joined hands. They all walked forward into the light.
When they reappeared Keefe found himself right outside a cave. They walked into the cave and he gasped at the sight before him. Inside was an army of men and women in black cloaks. Everyone was bustling around, doing something.
"Wow," Keefe manages as Gethen pulled him along to another cave. They set him in a chair, where he was strapped in.
"Alright Keefe. Tell us..." Brant said, walking forward with his hand stretched out. He lit his own hand on fire and smiled. "Where are the Black Swan hiding?"
Keefe stopped gaping at everything and turned his attention back to Brant. "Like I'll ever tell you."
Brant grinned and rushed forward, grabbing Keefe's arm and lighting it on fire. Keefe screamed, trying to throw off Brant's grip. Keefe's hollow scream was echoed across the entire cavern, but no one was bothered by it. Not a single soul.
