Chapter 15: The Dueling Club

Let's see... The Chamber of Secrets being opened, Gryffindor versus Slytherin where Potter breaks his arm, then looses his bones. That one Potions class where Crabbe's potion exploded and it landed on Draco and gave him a nose the size of a balloon, blah blah blah. I, Morana Drax, will take it from here.

Onto the Dueling Club.

So I learned there was a dueling club on the same day as the dueling club started. I was interested on what the dueling club would be like. I did not expect the dueling club meeting to be like it actually was.

At eight o'clock that night, I was walking to the Great Hall and guess who I saw? Aura, Xenia, and Tess. All talking to each other really business like. I walked closer to them to hear what they were saying.

"Seriously!" Xenia said. "Professor Flitwick told us he wasn't the teacher who set up the dueling club. Although, he did do a bit of dueling when he was younger. He was a dueling champion, actually. But anyways, it's not Professor Flitwick."

"Professor McGonagall told me that she wasn't doing it, either," Aura said.

"Professor Sprout told me she wasn't doing it either," Tess sighed.

"Well," I began which made the others jump and look at me, "I know that Professor Snape said something about him helping whoever's idea it was to do it, since he knows a little bit about dueling, apparently. I would love this dueling club if Professor Lockhart wasn't teaching it."

"He doesn't seem as cool as he says he is, in my opinion at least," Aura said.

"He keeps doing the worst lessons ever!" Tess half-shouted. "He made us take a quiz that was just questions about himself! What kind of teacher does that?!"

"A stupid one," Xenia answered.

"And then he lets pixies out of their cage!" Tess began again. "And-and he couldn't even get them to quiet down! Hermione and Xenia had to do that, for Pete's sake! And Harry and Ron. I mean, if twelve-year-olds who don't know as much magic as you do it better than you, then it's time to stop...whatever it is you're doing!" Aura, Xenia, and I were just staring at Tess as we were walking.

"Tess," I began. "You need to calm down!"

"Oh," Tess mumbled. "Yeah, yeah. Oh, right. I'm-I'm calm. I'm calm now..."

I had no idea what was wrong with her. Until Aura asked her a question.

"Tess, does this have something to do with your -" Aura began, then spoke in a whisper, "- with your visions?"

Tess began to shake her head, but nodded instead.

Tess had told us that she got visions the night before. I was kinda surprised that she could see the future.

"I remember a vision I had a little while ago," Tess began. "And it really bothered me. It was the night Mrs. Norris got petrified that I got it."

By that time we were at the Great Hall.

"I'll tell you about it later tonight," Tess whispered.

We all stood together (I don't remember why, though) between the group of Slytheirns and the group of Ravenclaws. On the other side of the stage were the two other groups, Hufflepuff and Gryffindor. Xenia stood the closest to the Ravenclaws with Tess standing next to her. I was standing nearest to the Slytheirns with Aura to my left. As soon as we walked to our spots guess who we saw?

Professor Gilderoy Lockhart.

Professor Lockhart waved an arm for silence, since people were talking, then spoke, "Gather round, gather round! Can everyone see me? Can you all hear me? Excellent! Now, Professor Dumbledore has granted me permission to start this little dueling club, to train you all in case you ever need to defend yourselves as I myself have done on countless occasions - for full details, see my published works. Let me introduce my assistant, Professor Snape," Professor Lockhart smiled. "He tells me he knows a tiny little bit about dueling himself and has sportingly agreed to help me with a short demonstration before we begin. Now, I don't want any of you youngsters to worry - you'll still have your Potions master when I'm through with him, never fear!"
