Chapter 20: The Chamber Of Secrets (Through Another's Eyes)

Once upon a time, a thousand years ago at this very school Salazar Slytherin created the Chamber of Secrets. It's whereabouts were unknown for many years. Only the Heir of Slytherin, whose name is Tom Riddle, could open it, and control the beast inside it.

But now, three thirteen-year-olds, Morana Drax, Xenia Faichild, and me, Tess Booker, and one twelve-year-old, Aura Malfoy, have found where it lies.

It lies in the girls' bathroom that Moaning Myrtle haunts.

So, the four of us headed to Moaning Myrtle's bathroom. When we got there we saw that the bathroom sinks had already opened up into a kinda small hole.

"The entrance to the Chamber of Secrets?" Aura asked as we were all looking down into the hole.

"The entrance to the Chamber of Secrets," I answered.

"Sooo," Xenia said after a minute. "Do we...should we... Well, who wants to go first?"

"Um, I'll go first," I volunteered, putting my hand up slightly. I sighed. "Well...wish me luck." I jumped down the slide, and I slid down. I screamed. It was really loud. Wow. How embarrassing. I landed on the ground. It was hard. It hurt. A lot. I landed in a pile of bones. "Ow," I muttered. I stood up, wiping off the dirt and dust.

"Hey!" Xenia yelled. "Tess! You okay?!"

"No! I'm dead! I just randomly decided to haunt the Chamber of Secrets!" I yelled back.

"Stop with the sarcasm!" Xenia yelled. "Y'know. Temporarily! Are you okay?! Is it safe to come down?!"

"Yeah. Just be careful on the way down. You're just gonna land on the hard ground." I moved away from the slide so that whoever was coming down wasn't gonna hit me.

Then I heard Xenia screaming. Then she paused and yelled, "Woo hoo!" Then Xenia landed to the ground with an OOF! right on her belly and face. Xenia was silent before saying, "...ow..."

"Here," I said, walking over to Xenia. I helped her stand up and get the dust off of her clothes and face.

"Xenia?!" Aura yelled. "Y'okay?!"

"Yeah!" Xenia yelled up. "Just give me a sec to move!" Xenia and I moved a little bit so that somebody could come down.

"Aaaaahhhhhhwoooohooooo!" Xenia and I heard Morana yelled. Morana landed on her feet with her legs bent and fell forward, but it was all with a smile on her face. Morana looked up at us. "That was bloody awesome." Morana stood up. She almost fell, but Xenia and I caught her.

"Alright!" Morana yelled. "Disgraceful Malfoy, you can come down!"

"Woooooohoooooooooaaaaaaaaahhhhh!" Aura yelled as she came down. She landed flat on her butt. "Ow," she muttered.

"Hey, I had worse," Xenia said. "I landed on my face."

"Ooh," Aura said, standing up. "Sorry 'bout that."

"Eh. It's okay. Gravity's fault, not yours."

We all turned around to look deeper into the Chamber.

Morana swallowed. "Well, uh, guess we're gonna see a huge snake thingy. Let's see if we can conjure up our inner Gryffindor."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS (THROUGH ANOTHER'S EYES)

We headed farther into the Chamber. We saw a wall of broken rocks, and two people, that we all knew: Ron Weasley and Professor Gilderoy Lockhart.

"Ron?" Xenia asked.

Ron turned around to look at us. "Xenia?" he asked. "What're you guys doin' here?"

"We thought we'd stop the basilisk," Xenia said confidently. "What about you?"

"Well, we were trying to save my sister," Ron began, "but this git over here used a spell with my broken wand and knocked these rocks down. And now Harry's on the other side saving my little sister."

"Wait, Ginny got kidnapped?" Aura asked.

"Yeah. She did. Didn't you guys see the other blood on the wall?"

"Um, no," I said.

"Yeah. On the wall it said 'Her skeleton will lie in the Chamber forever.' Meaning Ginny."

"Oh," Aura said. "I'm sorry, Ron. Is there anyway we can help?"

"You can help us by getting rid of these rocks. And how did you find out about the basilisk?"

Xenia smiled at Ron. "Long story."

"Not that long, actually," I said. "We asked some people we knew about this Chamber. One girl's grandmother came here fifty years ago and knew it was a basilisk."

"Oh," Ron said. "Well we've been trying to figure this out for forever. Maybe we should've asked her."

"She's in Slytherin," Morana said. "She wouldn't have told you. And uh, who's this 'git' you were talking about?"

Gilderoy sat up and looked at us. "Oh. Hello. Who are you?"

"Ummmm..." Xenia said. "Xenia Fairchild. I've kinda been your student for this whole school year."

Gilderoy frowned. "You have?"

"Don't mind him," Ron said. "He did a Memory Charm, and it accidentally backfired. But I would appreciate your help."

"Um," I said, "I know a spell that might help, but I've never done it before."

"Well, go ahead," Ron said. "Try it. Just not with my wand."

"Okay," I said. I got my wand out. "Everybody step back." Everybody, including Lockhart, moved to go behind me.

I took a deep breath before performing this spell I've only ever read and heard about...

"Reducto!" I said. The rocks turned into ash. I smiled, my eyes wide. I'm typically very bad at Charms so the fact that I got this on the first try was pretty awesome.

"Oh my God, Tess!" Morana said. "That was - how did you -"

"Wow," Ron and Xenia said at the same time. I turned and smiled at everybody.

"Well," I said, "uh, we should maybe go through. And, uh...maybe you could keep Professor Lockhart company, Ron?"

"But -"

"I know. Your sister's in there. I know how you might be feeling. But we're gonna help Harry, okay?"

Ron relaxed. "Yeah. Okay. But if I feel it's necessary to go then I'm going! I'll also try to find an exit."

"Okay. Sounds perfectly reasonable. Now, come on, girls! Let's go!"
