Chapter 2 ~ Hold My Hand

"Hey, hey!"  I snap out of my daydream.  Roman is standing next to me, dramatically clicking his fingers in my face. "You seem off, you alright?".  He asks.
"Yeah, I'm fine, just didn't sleep well, that's all"  I tell him.  It's true, after what happened before Patton left the house last night I couldn't stop thinking, wondering, hoping.  I couldn't sleep, wondering if that was real, if the strange spark I felt between us was real, but no, that's silly, I was overthinking, this stupid crush is ruining everything.  I can't even sleep at night now.... thinking about him. 
"Well maybe you should go home, Virgil"  Logan shouts from the kitchen.  "Get some sleep, maybe, it isn't healthy to get under 8 hours of sleep at night."  I roll my eyes.  Typical Logan thing to say.  He emerges from the kitchen, placing the bowl of popcorn on the coffee table and looking down at his watch.  "Patton should be here soon"  He says.  I become more alert at the sound of his name.  Roman is flicking through netflix for a movie.
"Oooh IT!"  I say when I spot it.
"Wanna watch it?" Roman asks.  That's not even a question, I'm always down for a scary movie.  I nod and Roman presses play, the doorbell rings.
"I'll get it" Logan says, getting up from the sofa and walking to the door.  I hear Patton's voice as he enters the house, and I subconsciously smile at it. 
"Hey, Patton, you're ok to watch IT, right?" Roman asks with a smile once they've entered the living room.  Patton looks at the TV with a slightly scared expression, before turning back to us and smiling.
"Yeah sure!"  He says, before walking to the sofa and sitting down beside me.  Roman turns up the volume and reaches for the popcorn bowl as Logan turns off the lights and goes to join Roman on the other sofa.
"Hi" I whisper to Patton as he sits down.
"Hey" Patton says back with a slightly forced grin.

Patton seems to get more and more scared as the film goes on.  Roman and Logan laugh from the other side of the room at something Finn Wolfhard's character says.  I'm not paying attention, I'm just watching Patton's expression's change.  Patton grabs a blanket off the floor and pulls it over us, smiling at me before looking back to the TV.  I feel my heart rate increase slightly.  Suddenly a jumpscare pops up on the screen, Patton gasps and shuts his eyes tightly, gripping my hand as tight as he can under the blanket, breathing hard.  I hold my breath, shocked at the sudden contact, he loosens his grip slightly, but doesn't let go, and he doesn't look at me for the rest of the film, gripping tightly to calm himself when he gets scared, and we both silently accept that this is just how it's happening.  He's holding my hand as we watch a scary movie.  Pretty damn romantic to be honest.
