Chapter 30 ~ All I'll Ever Need

I lay across the sofa with my head in his lap, he gently strokes my hair as he speaks into the phone.
"Yeah, table for two.... Half six... yep, thank you" He hangs up and smiles before leaning down to kiss me. I grab the back of his head, twisting my fingers in his hair. "Plans are sorted babe!" He says with a grin as we pull away.
"Good" I say quietly, smiling at him again. His eyes sparkle as he looks down at me. I love his eyes. I love him.

When I was getting dressed earlier today, Patton had grabbed me round the waist from behind, lifting me into the air.
"I'm taking you out tonight. Don't say anything, I am taking you out" He said.
"Ah, babe, you don't have to" I responded, turning to face him in his arms.
"Well I am, cause you deserve it and I love you, so much" He said, tapping me on the nose before kissing me.

He puts the phone down on the table beside the sofa, and I sit up next to him. He sighs. 'I love you' he mouths to me. 'I know, I love you too' I mouth back to him, and he lets out a small laugh before standing up.
"Lunch then?" he says, and I nod quickly with a smile and start to stand up. "No, no, no" He says, pushing me back to sit down on the sofa. "I'll do it"
"Patton, you're already taking me out later, let me do this" I say to him. He shakes his head, hand still on my shoulder as he leans down to my eye level.
"Well, maybe I feel like spoiling you today" he says with a smile and a shrug, kissing me on the forehead before he heads into the kitchen. I sigh, sitting back and rolling my eyes. God, I don't deserve him.
"Pizza's in the oven" Patton says as he re-enters the room. I smile, pizza is my favourite.
"Babyyy" I say scowling, pulling his hand down so he sits next to me. He smiles, he obviously likes spoiling me. I kiss him quickly on the lips before moving to lie down again, head in his lap. He goes back to absentmindedly stroking my hair as we watch Friends on the TV. I listen to him breathing, memorise the patterns, match it with my own, and we're in sync, from hearts to breaths, and I realise once again that this is it. It's us. He's it for me.

After pizza, he suggests we take a walk to the park, our park.
"Should we invite the guys?" I ask, he hesitates for a moment.
"I, uh, asked them this morning, Logan's doing paperwork and Roman and Thomas are at the theatre" he says. I nod. Ok.

We take our walk down to the park, hand in hand. We sit on the grass and talk for a bit.
"You know, I'm in love with you, right?" I ask him, he breathes out a small laugh.
"Of course I do, Virge, I love you so much" He says. I smile, wrapping my arms around him. He holds me tight to his chest, gently kissing the top of my head. "Do you remember our first kiss?" He asks with a short laugh.
"Of course I do, in the rain, that was, well, wow, almost a year ago now" I say disbelievingly.
"It was" He says, smiling at me.
"What?" I say, noticing him staring, taking in all the details of my face.
"You're pretty" He says almost shyly, looking down.
"Shut up!" I laugh, pushing him to lie down, he giggles. I climb onto him, connecting our lips. For a second before holding myself up above him. "You're too cute" I say, rolling my eyes. "And cringey, what am I gonna do with you?" I say, and we laugh some more before he connects our lips again.

I order the spaghetti, and Patton orders the flatbread. We are at the very same restaurant we ate at for our first date, my favourite. He looks immaculate tonight, as always. Hair nicely done, combed back slightly, black suit, white shirt, tie, the whole deal. I'm wearing very similar, with some slight eyeliner for good measure. The food is amazing as always, and after it is taken away, we hold hands in the middle of the table, gazing into eachothers eyes as soft piano music plays in the background.
"I love you, Patton, so much" I say, he squeezes my hand tighter.
"I love you too, Virgil. I," He breathes, seems worried. "I don't think I can ever lose you, it'd kill me" I giggle slightly.
"You're not getting rid of me any time soon" I whisper. He smiles hopefully. Wow, he's beautiful. I mean it, he's not losing me, I'm not gonna lose him. He sits back, pulling his hands away from mine.
"You know Virge, I'm so happy, I love you, I love being with you..." I smile at him. "I'm so happy that we have started our lives together" I feel the tears fill my eyes at the sound of his beautiful words. He takes a deep breath. "That being said.." He stands up, my smile falters. I'm confused. He walks around to my side of the small table. What's happening? He reaches into his pocket. "You make me happier than I ever thought I could be, and if you'd let me, I'd love to spend the rest of my life trying to make you feel the same way." He pulls out a small black box from his pocket. "I'm so in love with you, Virgil" He says, I can't breathe. My chest swells as he gets onto one knee. "So, Virgil Anxiety Sanders.." Oh my god. This is happening, I breathe out the tiniest laugh as the first few tears fall from my eyes. "Will you marry me?" He finishes. I stand up, pulling him up with me and throwing my arms around him. My tears dampen his suit but he holds onto me as if I'm his life support. I nod into his jacket, quickly. I pull away, tears decorating my face. "Yes, yes of course I will" I say, still crying. He gently pulls the simple silver band from the box and slides the ring onto my finger, now crying as well, and I throw myself back into his arms. "I love you" I say, kissing his face. "I love you, I love you, I love you" because it's all I can say, it's all I can feel. I pull back, looking into his smiling eyes, arms around his neck. I sniff, pulling him in for a kiss. Everything else ceases to exist in that moment. Only him. All I know is him, all I can feel is him.

All I'll never need is right in my arms.

So, this is it!  I really hope that you liked the final chapter of 'and in the end, I'd do it all again'.  I will be adding an epilogue, and doing a character q and a, bit for now, this is the end of the story.  I can't believe how quickly this has gone, and I've absolutely loved writing every scene and watching my characters fall in love, overcome struggles, and grow with me.  I'm gonna miss them so much.
