Jeonghan's POV

"Seungcheol appa must have bought you the whole store, huh?", Cherri chuckled as Chan nodded cutely, showing her all the toys Cheol got him. All Cherri and I did yesterday was catch up, she was like a friend to me, but even so she was still my mother. So as her motherly self, she forced me to go to sleep, it was a pretty funny story, but let's just say Cherri had to call Cheol for help. It seemed like they were in pretty good terms, not that I didn't expect them to be, but they had their own reasons if they didn't. "Cheollie appa said we were going to drop by somewhere later to get some things", Chan announced to her mother. Seungcheol and I were in the kitchen, I was busy doing the dishes while Cheol helped dry them. "That's right", Seungcheol mused as we both were listening to their conversation. I turned off the faucet, drying my hands, "babe", I heard Seungcheol call, causing me to turn around. The older smiled at me, engulfing me in a sudden hug, I lightly chuckled, resting my chin on his shoulder. "What's this all about?", Seungcheol placed a chaste kiss on my forehead, "I just love you".

I knew Seungcheol was like this and I loved it, but somehow my face still managed to turn into another color besides my skin tone. I hit his shoulder playfully but still smiled even with the obvious blush on my face, "yeah yeah, I love you too", we both chuckled, looking at each other's eyes. "Chan don't look now, your parents are gonna do the moochie moochie!", I heard Cherri yelp out, her voice mischievous and youthful. "Really?!", Dino yelled as he turned around to face us, I assumed this was the time where we both let go, but Seungcheol wasn't planning to. I looked up at him, a sly smile plastered on that handsome face of his as he leaned down, stealing my lips for a quick second. I could her Chan and Cherri screaming like little kids, Chan's was expectable and so was Cherri's, surprisingly.

The little monster smacked his lips on my cheek, "bye Hannie appa!", Seungcheol and Dino were going to head out, "bye Dino-ah, bye love, call if you need anything", I said, kissing Seungcheol on the cheek. "You guys stay safe", Cherri added as we both stood in the foyer, while the other two rascals headed down, "thanks Cherri, same goes for you guys", Cheol echoed out whilst holding Dino's hand, leaving. "So, what did you wanna talk about?", before she forced me into bed, Cherri told me to remind her about something important she needed to talk about, that's why I stayed behind. "Let's go to the balcony, the view's nice", now I've known this annoying kid-adult for probably my whole life and sure as hell she was stalling on me.

Knowing that she was stalling made me nervous and anxious, we both made it to the balcony, looking at the busy streets and skyscrapers. "You really picked a nice boy, Han", I pursed my lips not knowing how to interpret this situation, "what's with the stalling? You're making me anxious...". Cherri chuckled as we both leaned on the railing, "I finally got the money so you don't have to push yourself every day. You can even go back to school and pursue that wonderful dream of yours", my face lit up, but something was still off. What's with all this good information?

"As happy as that sounds... I know something's not right. Cherri, what the hell are you stalling about?", I begged, trying to look her in the eyes. She finally turned around facing me, her eyes locked with mine, "I want you to find your mother", my eyes widened at the suddenness, Cherri never brought that topic up, ever. The only time we talked about it was when I was little and I didn't know any better but ask shamelessly, just like any curious child would. "You said she didn't want me", this statement was burned into my brain and that's how it was all through my life, I got so used to it that I didn't even care anymore, as long as I had Cherri I didn't have to worry about that crap. "That's what she wanted me to say, that's what she wanted you to believe because it would have prevented you from looking for her", she explained.

"If she didn't want to be found, then why the hell are you telling me to find her now", I wanted to yell, not at Cherri, just the situation- it was infuriating, because everything was going well again and now... I don't know. She grabbed my hands, "Jeonghan, she didn't want to face her son, knowing that she couldn't afford to raise you... and that the person she loved all her life betrayed her by trying to kill his own son. Jeonghan, she just wanted to keep you safe, she wanted you to live a good life". Okay maybe I was a little mad at Cherri, I'm human, I can't help it. I just don't understand why she had to bring this shit about my mother when things were going so well. Seungcheol and I made up, we finally know the truth, Chan's happy, I'm happy, Cherri's back... I just don't get why she has to bring this up all of a sudden, but maybe Cherri wasn't happy- was it cuz of Seungcheol? Was it something I did? Something that happened in the U.S? "I-I still- I just don't get why... all- ", I couldn't even form correct sentences without my voice wavering like a broken record.

"Jeonghan. I have cancer."
