Jeonghan's POVIt's been hours since the party started and it seemed like everyone still had so much energy in them, but these were high school kids, after all. I headed to the bathroom seeing as I had too much to drink, hurriedly walking through a hall of football, soccer, basketball and other players that Jun and the others decided to invite. The task of not knocking into anyone got interrupted when I bumped into someone's shoulder, I turned to apologize but the man already walked off, I squinted my eyes in dismay- from all days I decide to hallucinate about the damn guy.
I finally made it to the bathroom, the need to relief myself disappeared as I just wanted to feel the cold faucet water on my skin. I splashed my face a couple of times, sighing in the process, "Seungcheol can't possibly be...", since Jun's mention of Seungcheol's dad working one of the biggest motorcycle companies in Korea, I couldn't help thinking back at the man who gave my mother hell. Well, technically, the man gave my mother some of her greatest memories, but knowing that he was already married and had a child- that was just something definitely fucked up. Cherri was left with sadness almost to the point of depression, she was hurt, she was broken until she realized she still had me and things started turning well again until he decided to show up, one thing left to another and that's how Chan happened.
She obviously didn't want an abortion so she kept the baby. One last time they met, but it was the final parting, the man fell into some crazy, delusional state and threatened to kill my mother, me or anyone she loved dearly if the secret of them got out, he said it would ruin his reputation and his family. That's how Chan became my son, if he figured out Cherri had a baby with him he would have tried to get rid of the evidence. At first glance, you think the person's some average business man, but he's sick, sick to the bone. Cherri had promised that she would never let anything bad happen, so she fixed herself and tried her hardest to raise me well along with our new family member that was welcomed with open arms.
My mother, she was the type of person that would do anyone justice even if she didn't know them and she's still trying to do some good in the U.S so we could live a good life. She wouldn't have had to do that, but that man kept threatening to shut the donut shop down, though as powerful as he was, he still had to abide by the laws just like everyone else, so instead of threats he made my mother sign a contract, but there were still threats, if she didn't sign the contract- well you know the rest. She was supposed to raise a certain amount of money for her to keep the shop, but the money he wanted was five times as much as we could make. So, starting from that point I worked my ass off trying to help my mother pay off that lousy debt that she didn't even need to pay off, she kept telling me to just finish school because then I would earn way more money if I was a doctor, but I told her that we wouldn't make it in time if I was always in school and no one would be able to look after Chan like an actual parent.
Seungcheol would usually avoid the topics about his family, so there were possibilities that...- no no no, he's not. Even if he was, it didn't mean that he was as bad as the man, I couldn't judge right away. Honestly, why do these thoughts have to run through my mind at a time like this, it's Seungcheol's birthday for fuck's sakes. I dried my face heading out the bathroom only to meet up with Wonwoo, "oh hey hyung", he smiled cheekily holding a red cup. I smiled at him, "don't drink too much", we both chuckled, "oh yeah, remember when I told you Seungcheol hyung's name sounded familiar?", Wonwoo added, stopping me from leaving. I nodded slowly, my heart suddenly started to palpitate, "he's the son of the one that owns the Choi company, you know the motorcycle business that your shop's in between?". My eyes widened... no way- it can't be.
For some reason my heart ached as it threated to beat faster, my head aching, there's no need to doubt Seungcheol, he's nothing like the man, but why the hell was he so secretive about his family besides the fact his brother died and his mother left. I ended my conversation with Wonwoo, the man that I bumped into earlier... where did he go? I ran to the place where I encountered him then rushed to the area he walked towards, I had to make sure it was him. I raked down my messy hair, looking left and right trying to find the guy, my body turned to a hallway, passing door to door until I heard Seungcheol's name being called. I halted at the door, slowly opening it, my heart stopped, it was him.
He was turned at an angel, his phone near his ear, "I just got back, stop pestering me about it. I'm telling you, Seungcheol's trying to play the woman's kid so his boulder of a mother can get off the damn property. Yes, I'm sure, my son doesn't let me down after all", a hint of bragging in his tone. Seungcheol? Playing... with me? Everything he did was just to get my family to leave the shop... Without knowing it, tears flooded my eyes, streams flowing down, even if he was just toying with my feelings, the fact that he got my kid emotionally and physically attached to him... the fact that I was too... I believed him, I trusted him- I loved that bastard! Chan, I am so sorry. I'm so so sorry, I knew I shouldn't have let this get so far, "Jeonghan?", I looked up.
"Joo Min."
