I quickly ran up the stairs of the orphanage, avoiding the debris and flames in the way as I raced towards the villain that was holding a kid that looked no older than my class. I activated my Quirk and used my scarf to grab the kid as Midnight ran through the burning building and attacked the villain as I ran out into safety far enough outside. A few seconds later she came running out holding an unconscious Villain over her shoulder, and once she was far enough the building came crumbling down as a lower-class hero started to put the flames out.
For the first time during that, I looked down at the kid in my arms and I was right he looked about fifteen or sixteen. He looked back up at me and I was a little shocked when he smiled at me, his big moss-green eyes shined in the moonlight.
"T-thank you." Came his hushed tone as he looked at me, "Y-you're Eraserhead" his smile widened, "I always wanted to meet a hero." I felt the sides of my mouth twitch into a smile "What's your name, kid?" "Izuku, Izuku Midoriya, but you can call me Deku if you want." I was surprised at that, considering what 'Deku' means. "My friend gave it to me when we were younger, he said 'It sounds like 'You can do it'' and it's been my nickname ever since." The kid's smile brightened at the mention of his friend.
"Izuku!"
He jumped at the mention of his name and I put him down on the ground softly and he ran over to the woman as Midnight came towards me. "Looks like Shouta has a weak spot for the kid" I didn't realize that I was smiling until she spoke. "N-no I d-don't, he's just the only person to thank me for rescuing them..." I trailed off at the end "You smiled, Shouta, It's called going soft." Came her stubborn response "Let's just get going, it's Friday and I want to go to sleep." I said as I heard light footsteps on the ground.
I was taken by surprise when I felt someone hug me from behind. I heard a whisper come from the kid, "Thank you again for saving me, Aizawa-Kun." and I watched as Deku skipped back towards his group. I smiled at him and then looked up at the sky.
"Midnight?" "Hmm?"
"I think I'm going soft for the kid."
