Hey! Sorry I haven't updated in, like, weeks. I've been working on my other story Haunted, so I've been neglecting this one. Anyway, 10 votes & 10 comments will get you another upload.

“Alright guys, where are we going?” I asked, “Logan suggested we find a place to hide for a while so we can work on our ‘abilities,’” The word ‘abilities’ did seem a little off, but it was better than saying ‘powers’. That made us sound like we were superheroes, or something.

Logan told them the details, since I had been very vague on the description of what kind of place.

“I would recommend that the place be wide open; we do not want disasters catching any buildings on fire,” because of our concerned face, Logan changed the subject, “Any ideas?”

“We’re heading North anyway; Maybe we can find a place there,” Sally stated nonchalantly, which was uncommon for her because she usually liked to plan ahead.

“If no one else has an idea, I think we should go with her idea. What could ever go wrong?” Derek replied.

“Everything; everything could go wrong when you say that,” I said. Cliché, I know, but something bad always happens when someone says something like that.

“Wow. Superstitious, much?” Derek said sarcastically, which earned him a whack in the arm by your truly.

“Hey, watch it!” Derek said as he slowly edged away from me to keep from getting hit again.

He better be thankful he is driving, I thought, or I would have hit him harder.

This was taking forever, and by the looks of it, everyone was bored out of their minds.

“Who wants to play a game,” I asked, desperate for some entertainment of some kind.

          “Sure,” Sally said.

          “Why not?” said Derek.

Logan shrugged, but I took it as a yes anyway.

“How about I Spy? I will start. I spy, with my little eyes, something black,” I started.

          “Um, the road,” Derek said.

“Nope,” I said smiling. I doubted anyone would guess it, since they could barely see it in the first place.

          “Your bracelet,” said Sally.

My jaw dropped. It was my good luck bracelet. Rebecca gave it to me when we were both very young at our first soccer game together. I always wore it on my left hand. It was very impressive since from where she was sitting, there was no way she could have seen it.

“Alright, Derek’s turn,” I said, turning to Derek. I scanned his eyes to try and find what he was looking at.

“Okay, I spy something green,” he said.

Before I could even look, Sally replied, “Logan’s jacket,”

It was true. I looked at Logan’s army green jacket. It looked old and torn, with years of use. Under his jacket, he wore a bright red shirt. His pants were cameo, almost matching his jacket.

No fair, I thought, she is a possible mind reader, for all we know. I mock pouted, my bottom lip jutting out.

“Logan’s turn,” Sally said, grinning from ear-to-ear, but you could tell by her eyes she was challenging him.

Logan rose to the challenge, his eyes darting around the car for something she could not guess.

“I spy something blue,” Logan said. He smirked, thinking he had won.

“My eyes,” she stated matter-of-factly. Logan was shocked, but he soon recovered.

“How did you know?” Logan asked.

“Now Logan, why would I tell you that? There’s a secret to winning, but it would take away all of the amazement on your faces, so I won’t tell you,” Sally said simply.

I sighed in disappointment. I made it a mission to one day in life to beat her at I Spy. I can see myself now, on the brink of death, old and withered, sitting next to Sally, also much older, guessing different things around a nursing home.

I began to get depressed, realizing we might not get to experience life as elderly people. We might die the next day if we were not careful. No, I decided that I refused to let that happen, especially to Sally, who had been through so much at such a young age. She did not deserve to die young.

From then on, I vowed to protect her at any cost, even my own life.
