Hiccup and I stare ahead, frustrated, as Toothless and Gold-Heart glide over a bed of clouds, glowing in the low, Arctic sun. Venom, Smaug and Saphira jump in between clouds like dolphins. Saphira flies next to us so I climb onto her back and Gold-Heart joins in with the cloud jumping. Hiccup screams in frustration. I groan loudly and we both slump back onto our dragons. Saphira recoils, sensitive to my upset.
"Don't worry, bud. I'm not gonna let anything happen to you. I promise," Hiccup tells Toothless.
"I love you, guys. Nothing bad will ever happen to you." I pat my dragon. "I need to let out so much anger." I take a deep breath. "We could've had it all! Rolling in the deep! You held my heart inside your hand and you played it to the beat."
"Bravo." Hiccup applauds. We all stay silent. "Aw, come on, Dad! Really!?" We both sit up to see a mysterious masked figure who disappears underneath the clouds. "Okay. No sudden moves," Hiccup tells me and the dragons.
"Are we dead?" I ask. The figure rises up, revealed to be riding upon a Stormcutter. "A Stormcutter." I gasp. "I've always wanted to see one." The figure circles us before hovering in front of us. Toothless and Saphira growl at the Stormcutter. Venom, Smaug and Gold-Heart seem to be intimidated. I don't blame them.
"Hold on, hold on." Hiccup strokes Saphira. He and I get snatched by a dragon and Toothless falls. "Toothless!"
"No!" I scream. Toothless falls through the ice and we get carried away. The other dragons block my dragons from us.
"Hey! You left my dragon back there! He can't fly on his own! He'll drown!" Hiccup shouts to the figure.
"Let my dragons fly with us!" I start to cry. "And save Toothless, please!" Hiccup and I are carried into the dragon's sanctuary. The dragon that's carrying us drops us on the ground.
"We have to head back for my dragon!" Hiccup holds my hand in terror. Dragons surround us so Hiccup pulls out his fire blade, showing he's one of the dragons. The dragons lose their killing eyes and they stare at Inferno in awe. Some dragons don't fall for Inferno so Hiccup draws a circle of gas and ignites it. Walking towards a dragon with an extended arm and I do the same to another. It sniffs me before nuzzling me.
"Hey, boy." I smile. "You're a big fella, aren't you?" I hold its face in my hands. "Woah, you look like a dragon back at home called Skullcrusher." I look around for my dragons but I can't see them. The figure steps forward and Hiccup recoils. I gulp.
"Who are you? The Dragon Thief? Drago Bludvist? Do you even understand what I'm saying?" Hiccup asks it. The figure orders a dragon to bring Toothless.
"Toothless!" Hiccup hugs Toothless. "It's okay. I'm glad to see you, too, bud. You really had me worried there." The figure orders the dragons to light the place and it drops its stick and shield.
"Can I see my dragons?" I ask. The figure holds its hand up and my dragons run towards me. I smile and hug each of them. "You're okay. That's good." I watch the figure approach Toothless and puts him in a trance. My mouth drops open. This warrior then examines my brother. Hiccup gets nervous and turns his head a little, revealing the scar on his chin, which the warrior recognizes.
"Hiccup?" It takes off its helmet, revealing itself as a middle-aged woman. "Could it be? After all these years? How is this possible?"
"Uh, should I... should we know you?" Hiccup brings me towards him.
"No. You were only a babe... but a mother never forgets." The woman smiles at us. Hiccup stammers, tongue-tied, aghast but the woman shushes him.
"Come..." She looks at me. "You too, dear." She leads us away.
