Reunion

Venom, Smaug and Saphira are playing with some dragons. Toothless is sleeping, suddenly awoken by baby Scuttleclaws. Gold-Heart's a heavy sleeper.

"Well, bud, we can't wait around for Drago to attack this place. We've gotta find him first." Hiccup looks at me.

I wake up Gold-Heart. "Come on, girl." I watch her yawn and she nuzzles me. Toothless finds a baby Scuttleclaw nibbling on his tail.

Hiccup smiles at me. "Let's go."

I walk up to him. "I don't wanna face my father."

"You'll be fine." Hiccup pats my shoulder. Someone sneaks up behind us and it places its hands over our mouths. I scream and Goldie and Toothless growl at the person. Venom, Smaug and Saphira stop playing and look our way.

"Easy now." It's Dad. My adopted dad.

Hiccup pulls us two away from him. "Are you kidding me? How'd you get in here?"

"The same way we're getting you out." Dad gives Hiccup his helmet.

"We?" Me and Hiccup question.

Gobber appears. "All clear!"

"Dragons. Come." Dad puts me over his shoulder and he grabs Hiccup's arm. I huff.

"Dad! There's something you need to know!" Hiccup tells him.

I roll my eyes. "And I have something exciting to tell you."

"Yeah, yeah, tell me on the way," Dad says.

"This isn't an on-the-way kind of update, actually-" Hiccup gets interrupted.

"I've heard enough, Hiccup." Dad seems pretty mad at us.

"More of the earth-shattering development variety." I smack Dad's shoulder.

"Yeah, just add it to the pile." Dad squeezes through a small gap.

"Dad, unlike most surprises we spring on you, this one you'll like. I promise! You just have to handle it delicately, so..." Hiccup looks at me and I grunt. Dad and Hiccup stop walking because Gobber is staring at something.

"Uh, you might want to take this one." Gobber pats Dad's shoulder. "Oh, boy." Dad puts me down next to Hiccup and he draws his sword.

"Dad, can you put the sword away... please?" Hiccup grabs my wrist and we all walk into an icy room. Dad sees Mum and he drops his sword from shock and he gives me his helmet.

Mum takes a deep breath. "I know what you're going to say, Stoick. How could I have done this? Stayed away all these years. And why didn't I come back to you? To our son. And could've given Beth a mother figure. Well, what sign did I have that you could change, Stoick? That anyone on Berk could? I pleaded so many times to stop the fighting, to find another answer, but did any of you listen?" Dragons start to surround Mum and Dad as he walks towards her.

"This is why I never married. This and one other reason," Gobber tells me and Hiccup. I give him a suspicious look before looking back at my parents.

"I know that I left you to raise two children alone... but I thought Hiccup would be better off without me and I didn't know about Meribeth," Mum says. I'll give her that. "And I was wrong, I see that now, but..." Mum backs off into an ice wall. "Oh, stop being so Stoick, Stoick. Go on... shout, scream, say something!"

Dad cups her cheek. "You're as beautiful as the day I lost you." Mum starts to cry and Dad kisses her.

"You and Tuffnut are going to be like that," Hiccup whispers.

"You think?" I ask. Hiccup nods.
