+ raelynn's pov

I woke up to the worried face of Addison hovering over me.

"I thought you died. Never do that to me again!" Addison exclaimed as she laid on top of me, kissing the crown of my head many times.

"I'm alive, get off me," I stifled a laugh, my voice barely audible. My throat sore, eyes tired and mouth dripping with pain, all I wanted was to fall into a calming sleep.

"Do you want anything, what happened?"

"Leilani fucking injected me with some drug. How did I end up in your house?" I questioned.

"Grayson called me from your phone and I bought you here. I was gonna take you to the hospital but he said it was only anaesthetic and was going to wear off in a couple hours."

Opening my mouth to respond, Addison cut me off by saying, "don't speak, your jaws could be in pain and need rest. Grayson said not to eat until the pain is completely gone."

I nodded as Addison walked out of the room. I tried to sleep, but thoughts swarming my brain stopped me from doing so. Thoughts being consisted of Grayson. He seemed sincere when he spoke to me yesterday. Every time we were together, I felt myself being genuinely happy. As cliche as it sounds, not being with him for the past week has made me feel some sort of emptiness inside me.

Realising I wasn't going to fall asleep, I messaged Addison to bring me some pain killers, hoping to relive some pain.

As soon as I texted her, I heard her shout from the other room, "be right here," causing me to chuckle.

"Grayson said not to eat but who gives a fuck what the qualified dentist who knows everything about teeth, says," Addison laughed, walking into the room, hands holding a glass of water and the pain killers.

I swallowed the pill, gulping down the water. "Can I shower? I stink and I probably won't be able to fall asleep any time soon."

"Sure and stop speaking." Addison helped me out of bed and an instant headache arose. The dizziness made it almost impossible to stand.

"Rae, you should probably sit down and rest more. You're not stable enough," Addison said, worryingly.

"I'll be fine. This shower will probably help me anyways." Without saying anything, she slowly helped me out of bed towards the bathroom. She grabbed my necessities and a fresh pair of clothes.

"I'll be outside if you need me." As she left, I stripped off my clothing, stepping into the shower. I turned the water on letting it cascade down my body, relaxing every tense muscle.

A few hours passed by and the pain only just subsided. Sitting beside the island in the middle of the kitchen, Addy and I had been eating almost anything we could find.

"Why would Leilani drug you, anyway? She barely even knows your name."

The same thought had been lingering my mind. Leilani and I had never met before and she drugs me. Great first impression.

"Maybe she's just jealous or something? When she walked in, Grayson and I were pretty close," I assumed.

"That was the first time she even saw you two together. It's not like she carried anaesthetic around with her. Grayson mentioned she was just a nurse. Nurses don't handle the drugs."

I shrugged, trying to forget about it. I would be lying if I said I wasn't even remotely scared. This situation justified my phobia and made it worse, it anything.

My phone vibrated as Grayson's name was plastered across the top.

"Aren't you gonna answer that," Addison said, pointing to my phone which I was obviously ignoring.

Before I could decline it, Addison reached for the device before clicking except.

"Hello... oh hey Grayson! It's nice to hear from you," she sarcastically smiled as I glared at her.

"Mhmm... Mhmm... I see, well she's right here if you want to speak to her."

She handed me the phone as I gave her a death stare.

Uninterested in speaking with him, I answered the phone, "what, Grayson."

"Hello to you too, Raelynn," he perched. "Are you free to come back to Oaklands for a check. I've booked you for an appointment as the anaesthetic used was strong and whoever injected it, put way too much. We just have to see if your gums are harmed."

There was no way I could go back. The fear of possibly seeing Leilani there frightened me to the core. I was also confused as to how Grayson didn't know who had drugged me.

"Um, I - I don't think another check up is necessary. My gums feel absolutely fine and the pain was worn off. And I've been to the dentistry way too many times this month," I stuttered, adding a nervous laugh.

"It won't talk long, just to see it your gums have had any weird reactions. I promise, Raelynn, you'll be fine."

His voice reassured me but also made me nervous at the same time.

Addison grabbed the phone out of my hand and answered, "she'll be there," before ending the call.

"What the fuck, Add!"

"Dude, you'll be fine. It's a quick check up and I'll be there with you. And if you see Leilani, we'll confront her and I'll throw some hands if anything gets too heated."

"I don't know, Addy. I don't think I can go back."

"Rae, you'll be fine. I'll be with you and it's just a quick check. It won't take longer than 10 minutes."

I contemplated the idea in my head, though I was certain I wasn't going to go.

"I'll be with you and Grayson will be there too. He won't let anything happen, Raelynn. Please?"

The plea in her voice and eyes made me sigh and lightly nod my head. "You better be there and I'm staying no longer than 20 minutes. This better be the last time I go to that damn office." I mumble the last part to myself, Addison probably hearing it anyway.

Petrified was an understatement of how I was feeling about going to the dentistry.
