Cotabato (COTABATO)
By: ASIN
Language: Filipino

Verse 1:

Ako'y isinilang sa isang bayan ng Cotabato
(I was born in a town called Cotabato)

Kasing gulo ng tao, kasing gulo ng mundo
(As troubled as humanity, as chaotic as the world)

Dahil 'di magkasundo sa relihiyon at prinsipyo,
(Because of disagreements in religion and principles,)

Nagkagulo
(There was trouble)

Verse 2:

Ang bayan ko, sa Cotabato
(My hometown, Cotabato,)

Kasing gulo ng isip ko
(Is as troubled as my mind)

Hindi alam saan nanggaling,
(It doesn't know where it came from,)

Hindi alam saan patungo
(It doesn't know where it's headed)

Kapatid sa kapatid
(Brother to brother,)

Laman sa laman
(Flesh to flesh,)

Sila-sila ang naglalaban
(They are fighting among themselves,)

Di ko alam ang dahilan
(I don't know the cause)

Ng gulo...
(Of the conflict...)

Verse 3:

Bakit nagkaganon,
(How did it become so,)

Ang sagot sa tanong ko?
(The answer to my question?)

Bakit kayo nag-away?
(Why did you all fight?)

Bakit kayo nagkagulo?
(Why do you cause trouble for each other?)

Prinsipyo mo'y igagalang ko,
(I will respect your principles,)

Kung ako'y iyong nirespeto
(If you respect mine)

Kung nagtulungan kayo
(If you all had just helped each other,)

Di sana magulo
(There wouldn't have to be trouble)

Ang bayan ko...
(In my town...)

Verse 4:

Sa bayan kong sinilangan, sa Timog Cotabato
(My birthplace in South Cotabato)

Ako ay namulat sa napakalaking gulo
(I was born during a great conflict)

Dahil walang respeto
(Due to the lack of respect)

Sa prinsipyo ng kapwa tao
(For each another's principles)

Kapwa Pilipino ay pinapahirapan mo
(You are troubling your fellow Filipinos,)

Ang gulo...
(What a mess...)

Verse 5:

Ako'y nananawagan
(I am calling out to you,)

Humihingi ng tulong n'yo
(Asking for your help)

Kapayapaa'y bigyan ng daan
(Make a way for peace,)

Kapayapaan ng bayan ko
(Peace for my town)

Bakit kailangan pang maglaban?
(Why is there a need to fight?)

Magkapatid kayo sa dugo
(You are all brothers by blood)

Kailan kayo magkasundo?
(When will you all agree with each other?)

Kapayaa'y kailan matatamo
(When will peace be achieved)

ng bayan ko?
(by my town?)

Verse 6:

Kung ako'y may maitutulong,
(If there's something I can do to help,)

Tutulong ng buong puso
(I will help with all my heart)

Gitara ko'y aking inaalay
(I offer my guitar,)

Kung magkagulo'y gamitin mo
(Use it when there is conflict)

Kung ang kalaba'y walang puso,
(If the enemy doesn't have a heart,)

Puso na rin ang gamitin mo
(Use your heart)

Ituring mong isang kaibigan
(Treat him as a friend)

Isipin mo'y siya'y may puso rin
(Just think he also has a heart)

Katulad mo...
(Just like you...)

Verse 7:

Sa bayan kong sinilangan (Bakit may gulo?)
In the town I was born in (Why is there trouble-)

Sa Timog Cotabato (Sa Timog Cotabato)
In South Cotabato (in South Cotabato?)

Ako ay namulat (Kailan matatapos-)
I was born (When is the end-)

Sa napakalaking gulo (Ang gulo?)
During a great conflict (Of this trouble?)

Dahil walang respeto (Kailan magkakasundo?)
Due to lack of respect (When will they understand?)

Sa prinsipyo ng kapwa tao (Ang tao)
For the principles of your fellow man (The people)

Kapwa Pilipino (Kapwa Pilipino)
Fellow Filipinos (Fellow Filipinos)

Ay kinakalaban mo (Bakit kinalaban mo?)
Are the ones you're fighting with (Why do you fight them?)

Ang gulo...
(What a mess...)

A Filipino singer dedicating a song to her hometown Cotabato. There was a civil conflict in Cotabato, Philippines between the Muslim Filipinos and Christian Filipinos. It's an old conflict actually, I think it's already settled now but many Filipinos died.

You shall see in the lyric video, between 2:29 and 2:35 - Christian and Muslim Filipinos praying to God and Allah respectively before the war.
