I sat at the table moving around the four cheerios I had left in my bowl. Sam went to work with my dad and my mom didn't have in for a while.

I was still thinking about Liam. I walked out on him after he told me he quit. I regret it now but I was upset when he told me. What we had last night was amazing. I hadn't been that happy in so long. When he told me he quit, I felt like he punched me in my chest and just made my heart stop.

I know I sound stupid because I could see any somewhere else but him leaving this job felt like he was leaving me. I know I told him that's what I wanted but was it ?

"Whats on your mind Mel?" my mom asked flipping through her newspaper.

"Nothing" I said carrying my bowl over to the sink. "So what happened with Liam?" I asked casually.

"Oh, he told us he couldn't work here anymore last weekend"

"Did he say why ?" I asked trying not to be suspicious.

"Something about focusing on school"

The doorbell rang and suddenly I was done with the conversation.

"I'll get it" I said my making my way over.

It was Evan. He stood there with a bouquet of tulips and a smile on his face.

"What's the occasion?" I said inviting him in.

"Well Valentine's day is in a few days and I wanted to ask you out." he smiled.

I had forgotten all about valentines day. Truthfully, I didn't want to go anywhere or do anything but Evan's gesture was so sweet, I couldn't say no.

"I would love too" I said. "And thanks for the tulips, they're actually my favorite" I said walking him to the kitchen.

"Mom this is Evan" I said filling a vase with water. "He tutors me in biology"

"Nice to meet you Evan" she said shaking his hand.

"Nice to meet you too Ma'am"

"Melanie I actually have to go handle something but I'll call you about that date"

"Sounds good" I smiled.

Guilt started tugging at me. I know Evan and I weren't dating but I told him nothing was going on with him.

"He seem's nice and he looks like the perfect person to take you to prom" she grinned at me.

"Mom I already told you I don't want to go"

"Mel I know the divorce has been rough on you but don't let things like that ruin your personal life."

She was right. So far, I let Liv, my parents, and Liam ruin my senior year. Liv and I should have been applying to schools together and making memories. My parents should've never been divorcing and being with Liam shouldn't have to be so dam hard.

"You're right, I need to start enjoying things a little more"

She closed her newspaper and sipped on the last of her coffee. "Of course I'm right. I think Liam is suppose to pick up his final check today, so if he comes by, it's in the mail drawer"

"No problem" I said as she walked out.

I was glad he was coming over because I needed to apologize and finally decide what we were going to do with our relationship.

I sat on the couch watching Glee with tears in my eyes as "The Quarterback" episode played. They were singing "Stand by you" and I could feel the water works coming. I heard the doorbell and wiped my tears as fast as I could. I opened the door and there he was leaning up against the wall. It never mattered what the occasion was, Liam always found a way to leave me breathless.
