It was December 25th, Christmas morning. I wanted to be anywhere but here.

My first Christmas without Liv. She wouldn't answer my calls or texts. Everything just kept getting worst.

I went downstairs and surprisingly found my Dad.

"Dad"

"Mel" he said pulling me in for a hug "Mel I've missed you so freaking much. I hate how work's got me like this"

Work? Yea right.

" I know" I said hugging him back "Where's mom"

"She's picking up her Mom and sister from the airport."

I was actually excited to see them. I loved my Aunt Francine. We always had a great relationship.

I walked in the living room and found wrapping paper everywhere. I guess Sam had already gotten to his presents. I found him sitting in the middle of the room trying to put together a lego set.

There were two presents left under the tree, both with my name on it. I opened one and it was makeup from my mom. I opened the second which was a necklace from my dad.

It was a heart with our picture on the inside. It would mean more to me if I wasn't so pissed at him.

Later that night I got dressed into my tight black dress and helped my Aunt set the table for dinner.

"Whats wrong Mel?"

"Nothing" I said smiling

"Cut the crap. I've know all your facial expressions, all your moods, and your peeves. I know something's wrong"

"Really, I'm fine" I smiled. I walked away trying to avoid her as much as possible.

That night we all sat at the table eating dinner. Everyone was laughing and smiling and exchanging gifts, except me.

"Mel your being such a sour puss tonight" my mom said walking into the kitchen. I was sitting on the counter playing color switch on my phone.

"No I'm not"

"Your family is out there but your in here playing games. Seriously stop acting like this. I don't know whats going on but save it for later" she said grabbing a bottle of wine from the cabinet.

"You don't even care" I said not looking up from my phone

"Mel whats wrong. Please tell me because sometime's I really can't figure you out" she said raising her voice.

My father walked in soon after "Whats going on in here?"

"Something is wrong with your daughter" she sighed frustrated.

"When were you guys going to tell me about the divorce" I asked finally looking at them

"How do you know about that?" My mom asked seriously

"I saw the papers in your room. You sure weren't trying to hide them. "

She put her fingers on the bridge of her nose and sighed.

"Mel were going to eventually tell you"

"Yea I realized that's why your never here. You think I don't notice your stuff slowly disappearing from the house."

"Mel tonight is not the night for this alright."

"Your right" I said pushing past them. I stayed up there all night. Everyone knocked on my door but I answered for no one. I listened to music until midnight.

I changed into something more comfortable and then snuck out.

I needed a walk. I needed to clear my head. Too much has been happening at one time. First my parents, then Liam, then Liv. All of the important people were either disappointing me
or I was disappointing them. Either way, I couldn't handle it.

I texted him and asked if I could come over. I really needed someone right now.

"Hey Chris, thank you so much for this" I said as he let me in.

I hope I was making the right choice.
