Chapter: 4

It was Thursday afternoon. I was out with Liv shopping. After all, tomorrow was my birthday. I wasn't going to really celebrate but I still wanted to look good for school.

"Your such a bore Mel, you know that ?"

"Yes, I'm aware"

"Just come to the party with me and Hyde."

Hyde was Olivia's boyfriend. They've been dating since freshmen year. She even lost her virginity to him.

"No.I just want to spend my eighteenth by myself watching 13 going on 30, a nice big bowl of cinnamon popcorn, and some chocolate covered raisins"

She rolled her eyes.

"You are so annoying"

I went home to find Liam and Sam playing soccer in the backyard. I watched them from my bedroom window.

Liam was great with Sam and Sam really liked him. I found myself smiling as I watched them.

The next morning, I woke up from Sam jumping on my bed.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY" he screamed.

I got out of bed and threw him over my shoulder. He started laughing wildly. I found my parents down stairs.

"Happy birthday baby" my mom said hugging me.

"Happy birthday, how does it feel to be 18?" Asked my Dad.

"No different that when I was 17" I smiled. He gave me a hug.

"We both managed to get the day off to celebrate your birthday and take Sam trick or treating"

"Great" I said.

"We can all go out to dinner later"

"Perfect" I smiled. Finally some time with them.

I met Liv in the car when she came to get me.

"Happy Birthday Mel" she said. "Here's your present she said handing me a box"

I opened it and found a charm bracelet.

"Wow, this is so cute"

"You like it?" She asked

"Love it" I said.

"You look great by the way"

"Thanks"

My hair was curled and I was wearing make up. I rarely curled my hair. I had on a crop shirt with a leather jacket and ripped jeans.

We got to school a short while after.

I was sitting in my 6th period class when I got a text from Liam. It read

Melanie, meet me outside. Its an emergency. Something bad happened

I asked the teacher to use the bathroom and then snuck out one of the entrances in school. I saw his car and got in

"Happy Birthday" was the first thing he said.

"What? Why did you make me come here ? Whats the emergency ?"
