6. Mistake

//Saiki will get out of character. His affectionate side will slip out a little, triggered by certain situations~

You sat in class refusing to turn around and speak to Saiki. You were completely embarrassed at having fallen asleep cuddled up to him. When you woke up that morning, he was resting his head on the flat of your shoulder. He was practically on top of you with an arm sprawled over you preventing you from getting up as he slept soundly and comfortably. You even felt too embarrassed to call him Kusuo.

You were sketching a meadow and mountain range in your notebook when a female practically glowing with perfection glided past you two. You knew her as Kokomi Teruhashi, and all the boys liked her, and all the girls wanted to be her. She was in a word, completely imperfect in your eyes. You always greatly disliked perfect people because deep down they really weren't perfect; and you heard her talking to herself once about being the "perfect pretty girl" while in fact you thought she was the "perfect pain in the ass". She was arrogant, and you hated arrogant people. You hated perfect people.

"Saiki~"
Your heart stopped.
Kokomi Teruhashi; every guy in school had a crush on her, and you knew she had a crush on Saiki. The thought of Saiki being with her or any other girl made you feel sick to your stomach. You rolled your eyes and wondered how she would react if she found out you cuddled the night away with her beloved crush.
"What now?" Saiki asked bluntly. The girl smiled as cutely as possible and put a finger on his shoulder. She winked and chimed, "We haven't hung out in a while~ I'm going to the beach this weekend, care to join me?"
"Hell no."
Teruhashi looked as if someone just gave her the worst news in the world. Of course she was surprised that Saiki wouldn't want to go with her to the beach, since any guy would jump at the chance to see her in a swimsuit. But then, Kusuo wasn't just any guy. He was a boy with supernatural capabilities who knew who Teruhashi really was under that act of hers. You liked that he was different, it was probably one of the main things that drew you to him. The female kept begging, which was totally unlike her. •"Awe come on not even for a few hours?"
•"Saiki~ it'll be fun~!"
•"why not?"

She tugged at the sleeve of his shirt a little. "I'll get you coffee jelly~"
You don't know what compelled you to do what you did next; it was a feeling you never felt before, but Kusuo's reaction was totally worth it. You turned around and gave the perfect girl a sarcastic smile. "Could you please go whine somewhere else? It's clear that Ku- I mean... Saiki... doesn't want to go to the beach with you. So run along and leave him alone please because your voice is really starting to sound like a bunch of cats being dragged across a blackboard."

It looked like Kusuo was trying hard not to laugh when he cupped a hand over his mouth and started shaking. Teruhashi gave you a bewildered look. No one had ever talked to her like that, but you knew almost immediately that it was a grave mistake. This girl could ruin your life with the snap of her fingers. You weren't afraid of Saiki, but you were afraid of Kokomi. You feared judgement, meaning people with social power like her were a threat to you.

Am I the jealous one now? Normally I can keep my mouth shut.
When Saiki moved his hand away from his mouth, he seemed to be smirking. Oh right he can read my mind... shoot.

"That's right I can. Anyway, I can't believe you said what you did to Teruhashi."

You noticed that the female had left, probably in a fit of anger being that someone spoke to her in a harsh manner. She probably had never been insulted until you opened your mouth. You also noticed that Kusuo was still smirking. But why? You wished you could read his mind as easily as he could read yours. "Wipe that smirk off your face, would you?"
"Why? You find it attractive don't you?"
"What?!"
"I'll take you out after school as a thank you for chasing Teruhashi away for me. But don't expect some fancy place, we're just going to my favorite cafe."
"Wait slow down and back up-"
"Meet me outside the school at the end of the day."

Saiki was acting weirdly all day. He even gave you a compliment while you were leaving the school.
"You look nice today."
"Why are you acting so weird?" You blurted out in response. The pinkette turned his head to you, "Is that how you respond to compliments?"
"To your compliments, yeah. You never compliment anyone... especially me!"
"Relax, I was just testing something."
"Testing something? Like what?"
"Nothing important," he said, looking straight ahead.
