"Are you ready, (l/n)?!" Hairo asked with heated passion in his ever so enthusiastic voice. You nodded and waved goodbye to your little sister before stepping outside and closing the door behind you. You looked at Saiki's house across the street with a bit of concern. But you wouldn't admit to yourself you were worried. All week Saiki avoided you; ever since your fight he made an even greater effort to be away from you. The poor boy didn't understand how to cope with jealousy like this or any major emotion at all really. After you kicked him out of your house, you expected an apology but of course you got the cold shoulder. So you felt bad. You felt something when you were around him, like you were able to tune into his own senses. Your heart hurt... badly. Like heartbreak. But why would Saiki be heartbroken if he hated your guts? He shouldn't have done what he did. You narrowed your eyes at his house, glaring daggers through his bedroom window. Fury burned in the pit of your stomach and made you want to scream at him from where you stood...
"Get out here and apologize, Bastard! You sick creep! How could you pull a stunt like that and then give me the cold shoulder? It isn't my fault. It's not my fault!" Rage built up in your chest and you nearly started screaming at a boy who probably wouldn't be able to hear you or would likely ignore you until you went away. Instead you took a deep breath and smiled at Hairo, "I haven't been to a game in a really long time. My dad and older brother used to take me to games a lot when I was little." You and the male started walking.
"I didn't know you have a brother. Why do you live with your Grandma?"
"My brother is in the Navy. He's currently in Rome. And my parents... they aren't around."

Your father was shot during a bank robbery; he tried to be a hero. Your mother was a drunk, and you and your sister moved in with your grandmother to escape her drunken mistakes.

"What do you mean by they aren't around?"
"They travel a lot," you smiled, "they wanted my sister and I to have normal lives so they sent us to stay here with our grandmother."
"You only moved here recently. So does that mean you did a lot of traveling before now?"
Shoot.
"Yep! Oh, yeah. Lots of traveling. I've been to Africa and Greece and Mexico... we went to Rome to visit my brother, too." It was all a lie of course but you had to come up with something. Hairo seemed satisfied and he believed your web of lies. "Wow! That's really cool! I'm sure you have a lot of pictures then. Mind if I check them out sometime?"

Well now what? You had to say yes otherwise he would get suspicious. You had to flirt your way out of this.
"Ah-" you hugged his arm and smiled up at him, "you wouldn't be interested in all those boring pictures. Tell me more about you!" You could see Hairo's face turn crimson and he smiled anxiously. He was definitely enjoying this, and his mind was taken off of your lies for now. "W-Well what do you want to know?"

(Saiki)
The psychic had been following you and Hairo since you left the house. He was invisible for now. By the time his invisibility wore off he could blend in with the crowd. But his mind wasn't on that right now, no, it was on you, just you. He read your mind every step of the way. He knew how angry you were with him, knew you wanted an apology and you weren't going to change your mind. He also knew about your parents. She's done a pretty decent job keeping those memories hidden away. I never knew she had it so rough. She's always... smiling.
It was when you hugged Hairo's arm that Saiki almost blew a fuse. That should be me. Even if it is just to get him to forget about your lies... let go of his arm. I'll apologize, okay? I'll tell you how sorry I am if you just come back to me...

Unable to control himself any longer, the male stuck out a hand and forced the two of you apart enticing a "woah!" from Hairo and a precious "Eek!" from you. She's my territory, Hairo.
"What was that?" Hairo questioned confused as to why he was suddenly shoved away from you. It was really more of a gravitational pull so he knew you didn't push him away. He looked at you, "You okay?" The spiky haired boy put a hand on your shoulder, but Saiki wouldn't have it. He pushed Hairo away from you again, and by now Saiki knew he was getting somewhere. He could read Hairo's mind.
"What the heck is going on? This is freaking me out!" All he had to do was scare him away. You, on the other hand, knew exactly what was going on.
"KUSUO SAIKI."
He flinched upon hearing your enraged thoughts once again. He knew he shouldn't be medaling with your date but he couldn't stop the compulsion that kept eating away at him from the core. Saiki ignored your internal yelling and instead made an effort to scare the shit out of your admirer. He forced Hairo to trip over his own feet and then moved him into someone's lawn, far, far away from you.
"Saiki, what do you think you're doing you little brat?" you hissed at the invisible boy.
"Just having a little fun."
"Well stop it! You're ruining everything!"
"I can't," he said flatly. You watched Hairo scramble to his feet. He called to you, refusing to get near you again for fear he would be sent flying next, "Um... I'll text you later (l/n)! Something urgent just came up, sorry! Maybe we can hang out some other time!" And with that, Hairo was gone. Saiki's invisibility wore off and he faded into view. You stormed closer to him and raised a hand, then brought it down so fast that when you stopped it inches from his cheek he felt a slight breeze. That would have hurt. He looked at you, shocked that you nearly struck him. "You wouldn't hit me," he said. He was confident in that answer. "I'm a psychic after all, and I could do much worse to you-"
"I'm not afraid of you," you still didn't move your hand away.

(Both)
You so badly wanted to slap him across the face and scold him, scream at him, shout and holler until all of your anger was out. You were always very emotional, and anger often made you tear up.
"Why do you do these things to me? I never did anything to you. It isn't fair you developed a sudden distaste for me that first day we met. It isn't fair that you think it's okay to be jerk to me whenever you feel like it. It isn't okay; what you did in that stupid box! And it isn't okay that you're getting in the way of me having a life!" Finally your hand moved but only so you could wipe the tears that threatened to fall during your fit of rage. "I..." You started again, Saiki's hurt expression going unnoticed by you, "I want to have a life. And not one that revolves around a boy who couldn't care less how his words and actions might hurt me. Is that too much to ask for?"

It wasn't until you felt a wave of warmth that you stopped trying to dry the tears that kept falling. You let them fall, too shocked to move a muscle. You were so still, like if you moved you would scare him away...
Saiki was hugging you.

"I'm sorry," he said. There was something about those words that sounded different. Normally you felt like his voice was echoing in your head, but these words were spoken into your ear. It was minutes before you realized he wasn't going to part from the hug so you took a chance and wrapped your arms around him, then hid your face in his shoulder. He continued to speak, only now it echoed in your head again. "I'm sorry for everything. I'm naturally a cold person, and I don't try to be either."
"I don't care about that. You're funny..." it was true that his insults and comical statements made you giggle uncontrollably until you got looks from the people around you, "I don't know why I brought it up."
"Because I'm coldest towards you and I finally know why that is."
"Why?"
"I can't tell you that. But I can tell you that I'm also sorry for breaking into your home and violating your personal space. And I'm sorry for ruining your evening out with Hairo."

You sniffled, and he added, "I'm also sorry for making you cry. Just quit it already and get back to smiling too often. Jeez you're dramatic."

You didn't care about him calling you dramatic, because it was still the nicest thing he had ever said to you. It wasn't a silly compliment like the ones he used to flatter you all day. This was different. He was being sincere and apologetic and meaningful, and you loved it. He was leaving himself vulnerable for you... and you took the opportunity to give him a kiss on the cheek where you nearly slapped him. His eyes shot wide open and he looked at you. A blush formed slowly on his face, the pink creeping to the surface reluctantly.
"Lets go back. We'll enjoy some coffee jelly and play some video games."
This time, you hugged Saiki's arm. A small smile could be seen at his lips now, and if it wouldn't have ruined his cold jerk image, he would have been grinning all the way home.
