5. Horror

(Saiki)
You were skipping backwards to face Saiki as you talked to him about an odd dream you had. He paid no attention to you. Instead he stared straight ahead, but he wasn't looking at you, just over your shoulder. He was thinking about his odd feelings from yesterday. He had been jealous of Hairo but he didn't know why considering the throbbing hatred he felt for you. She hasn't shut up all morning about this stupid dream. What a pain... can't this girl take a hint? Although knowing her she's trying to annoy me. Even so... I'm drawn to her like a moth to a flame and I can't seem to figure out why that is. Maybe it's because she's got a good balance between negativity and positivity. That, and I can actually see her the way normal people see her.

Saiki found out that your necklace was made out of iridium. So that meant that  his X-ray vision couldn't permeate that specific metal. You were actually extremely attractive in his opinion. It's kind of nice to have someone around like her. I just wish she wouldn't get on my nerves so often...

The two of you sat at the table and discussed the next step in your project. But that's when your words rang in his head. "... and all you and I do together is schoolwork..."

"Let's watch a movie," he said without thinking. You blinked a couple of times, "Come again?" Saiki was paralyzed. He didn't know why he said that, or of all things why he chose a movie rather than a walk or to visit a cafe. What am I doing? The two of you stared at each other in silence, waiting for the other to speak or cough or do something. You stood up slowly and fixed your skirt before looking at Saiki. You pushed your chair in and walked over to him (he was sitting across from you). The male looked up at you, attempting to look as unfazed as possible at how close you were to him. He started thinking that asking you to watch a movie with him wasn't such a bad idea. You would shut up, and he could be close to you! Wait what? Scratch that last part. I don't want to sit near her... but... at the same time...

The pinkette imagined you cuddling up to him during a romance movie, hugging his arm and blushing softly. Oh great... I'm starting to think like Teruhashi and the other girls who have a crush on me. This is hell.

"A movie could be fun. It would be a break from the project. You probably don't get surprised very often because of your telepathy, but if we watch a horror movie~ the element of surprise is guaranteed!"
A horror movie? But she hates horror movies. It would be kind of nice to be surprised though... plus she could end up clinging to me.

"It doesn't matter to me. I'll go get the movie set up while you. . ." Saiki paused. Crawling on the table in front of him was a big, fast moving cockroach. He started to sweat profusely before gulping heavily. You noticed how he started shaking intensely, and decided that you should do something about the bug to save your poor psychic friend from an impending heart attack. He could read your mind, and so  he knew you were creeped out by insects too (all but butterflies and dragon flies, and you couldn't help but to save any insect from a spider web even if you were terrified of spiders). You gently scooped up the cockroach in your hands and carried it to the door. "Saiki, could you open the door for me?" The male was already gawking at you with a light blush on his face when he opened the door. He watched you carry the bug outside and let it go in the bushes with tenderness as to not harm the little critter and obscure it from the eyes of aerial hunters.

"Just like that?!" Saiki questioned loudly and in utter shock. You walked by him to get to the kitchen to wash your hands after holding the bug. I... she... huh? "Thanks." He said as flatly as he could. However the look on his face was anything but expressionless. He was struggling not to smile and show you his gratitude.

By now you were sitting a good distance apart on the brown sofa. You sat on either side of the couch as the movie began. Popcorn was in a glass bowl on the black surface of the coffee table along with coffee jelly, soda, and a few other snacks as well. Of course Saiki went for the coffee jelly, Typical Sai. I feel like he's more in love with coffee jelly than he'll ever be with a woman.

Little did you know that in response to your thought, the tsundre thought, Yeah, don't be so sure. Of course he couldn't say it out loud though. He wasn't even sure why that thought came to his mind but he knew it was true. He was passionate about you, he just wasn't sure in what way. He could sense your fear as the movie carried on. He didn't need to be psychic to be able to tell.

You gripped the blanket like it was the only thing that could protect you from the evils that lurked in the darkest corners of your mind. Of course the two of you waited until dark to watch the movie because you wanted your friend to get the full experience. While you waited for dark to fall you played an intense game of Pokémon. He was even letting you wear his germanium ring so he couldn't read your thoughts to make everything that much more fun for the two of you. But for some reason he didn't want you wearing it during the movie. You thought you heard him mutter something about knowing when you're afraid while he was making popcorn; but it didn't make sense to you. Saiki hates you, he wanted nothing to do with you... yet... here the two of you sat watching a movie together. He took you out to fly for at least an hour, you even played some Pokémon together. You started whispering "nonono" as a young woman slowly went to open her basement door where she had heard loud banging on the door. Saiki stood up and walked over to your side of the couch before sitting down directly next to you, very closely, and stayed idle for a moment.

"Kusuo, whats wrong?" You looked at him with a gentle gaze that caught him off guard. "Is he afraid?" "I'm not afraid," he responded and avoided looking at you. "But you are." Saiki put an arm around you, pleased to be this close to you and pleased that you called him Kusuo. You were blushing softly, your heart palpitating, your fears being washed away in an instant. He seemed very stiff to you, a clear sign of nervousness. You figured he was uncomfortable being so close to you, but you couldn't help leaning your head against his shoulder and clinging to him as the movie got even scarier. He jumped a few times out of fear, but never moved enough to separate himself from your shaking arms.

Thank you Kusuo... you stayed close to him and even started to fall asleep what with his warmth being so comforting.

(Saiki)
He turned off the movie when he was sure you were asleep. It was late, and he wasn't willing to wake you up. He summoned your phone with his telekinesis and texted your grandmother, who you lived with across the street.
We ended up working on the project late so I'm just going to spend the night here since Saiki's parents invited me to. I'll be staying on the couch so don't worry. Love you!

He put your phone down and he too started to doze off. "Goodnight, (f/n)."
