Chapter 1!🤗☀️

Obi’s POV

Lyrias, It is the northern part of the kingdom of Clarines.  I rented an apartment there and quickly went to find a job(obviously an assassin job). Ari wasn’t really happy at first, but she hesitantly allowed me to go. I made her a deal and told her that if she had any medicines with her I would sell them since I would not allow her to go out while I was gone- I think that was the main reason she let me go.

When she was eight, we moved to Tanbarun. I started teaching her everything dad taught me before he died (assassination techniques) when she turned nine since that was when I started learning. Even though I knew she wouldn’t become an assassin I thought it was a good thing to teach her.

I taught Ari how to run through the trees quick enough to feel and look like she was flying. She mastered that quickly and was a lot more graceful than me. During the next month I taught her how to fight without weapons. This included how to defend herself from other people. That wasn't to difficult for her either. She already had strong legs from traveling from town to town on foot mostly- I didn't want to risk being seen by any officials. She also had strong arm muscles from when I taught her how to climb trees and buildings. Honestly, I'm kind of jealous of how fast she learned, pops made me go through very painful and intense training to get these muscles. After a while we eventually got to weapons. I taught her how to use my small daggers and a bow and arrow. I taught her how to use a sword. Swords aren't really my thing so she didn't really learn much about those. She knew how to sneak up on people, how to knock someone out, she knew all the pressure points on a body, how to escape an attacker, all that jazz. I hope mom and dad are okay with me teaching her these things. Of course this also meant that I wouldn't be able to protect her forever.

I decided she ‘worthy enough’ to go into town freely to sell her herbs. Of course this also meant that she could go get her herbs from the forest when she needed to supply more. Since she was still young and innocent, people didn’t think she was selling something shady.

We moved to Clarines since I had a job there with one of my acquaintances, Torou. Ari was about ten -almost eleven- and since I would likely be going on jobs back to back, I decided that I would have to take Ari with me. Ari and Torou got along quite well. I think Ari liked her because Torou reminded her of mom who was a female assassin.

Anytime people of the group questioned why I brought Ari, I simply told them that she could handle herself. Some people didn't believe me. One time Ari had had enough of talking down about her. She got mad and slapped a man on the face. As soon as he started glaring at her I stood up, Torou had to stop me. She whispered to me, “Let her handle it.” She glared at him and he just cackled and said, “This little girl thinks she’s so tough.” He pushed her, “Ari!!” She fell back but before she fell to the ground, she smirked and twisted her body around and kicked him in the stomach. He didn't see it coming and fell back, winded and shocked. She smiled and said, “Sorry mister,but as you can see I'm tougher than I look.” She offered a hand to him which he hesitantly took it. The man apologized to Ari kind of afraid. Both Torou and I smirked, I should've known she could handle herself, I trained her. However, I knew that no matter how much training I gave her she would never kill someone. Even if they were people she completely despised she wouldn't kill them. She claimed that she was taking away their chance to become better people. That's my Ray always being positive, trying to find the best in people.

I was kind of surprised she opened up to Torou. Maybe it's because she doesn't know that we work together on jobs from the underground. We both made a deal that we would never tell Ari what we have to do. Torou never really cared about who she was killing, she only wanted the money. I on the other hand only started killing people that weren't bandits when Torou met me in the underground. There are times that I pretend not to care, but I always have a nagging feeling saying, "What if Ray finds out? She'll hate me!" I hope mom and dad understand that I don't know what else to do to get money. I pray that if Ari ever does find out that she will find it in her heart to forgive me. Sometimes I want to reject the money to not feel guilty. However, I keep telling myself that once I save enough money I will leave the underground, find a place to stay with Ari and a job that is a lot more steady and relaxing than being an assasin.

For months Ari traveled with Torou and I as we accomplished job after job. There were multiple occasions where Ari had to fight for herself because she would get attacked as Torou and I were doing dirty work where she wouldn't see. There were at least two times where they threatened to kill her so we would stop. They instantly regretted trying to hurt her when she inflicted injuries that would definitely hurt but wouldn't really kill them. She hates it when she has to do that but she knew she had to or she would die. I think she felt that anyone who threatened a life didn't really deserve their own for being selfish. They would rather kill an innocent than give a small blow to their pride.

At one point when I had saved enough money. We were currently in Laxdo. This was a smaller town near the kingdom of Clarines. I decided we should move to the bigger city near the castle. A change of scenery to signify our fresh start with no assasination. I still remember when I saw Ari's face. She was so happy that I would stop assasination even if she didn't know for how long. We were on our way to hopefully a better life.
