Ari's POV
After what seemed like forever we were finally going home!! I was kind of disappointed that I couldn't help fight bandits, but oh well I guess I needed rest.We got home a day later and as soon as we got to the gate I jumped over it. The guards at the gate immediately identifying me, just laughed and opened the gates for the others. I ran to the Chief's office so that I could announce my arrival.
Chief Garack looked at me and laughed, "Someone's happy to be back." I nodded enthusiastically. "I'm glad you all got back safely. I hope you and Shirayuki got all of the reports." I nodded again quickly, impatiently looking at the door. She laughed and sighed. "Ryuu's just went on break. He is probably sitting under the tree by his office, you are excused and tell Ryuu he can have the rest of the day off." I smiled and quickly hugged her then bowed. I ran out the door, I CAN FINALLY SEE RYUU!!!
Garack's POV
Ahh, young love. I'm glad Ari is back, Ryuu has been sighing a lot since she left. His work luckily wasn't lacking but you could see he was never completely focused. There were times he would go out to the garden and look at the sunshine peaking through the leaves.I know he has a hard time making friends since -well- he's a genius. However, he met Ari, and you can see that his smile changes at ther sight of her.
Ryuu is like a son to me and I just want him to be happy. His parents died when he was little and his grandparents happily allowed him to follow his dream. They entrusted me with little Ryuu and he worked hid way up to being an official court herbalist. Sometimes I feel like he's smarter than me!
Hopefully Ari being here will help Ryuu open up to showing his emotions. Ryuu needs to experience all the feelings that come with childhood. He forced himself to grow up so quick so adults should acknowledge him, but he's still a kid and doesn't know how to have fun. Ari please make Ryuu experience life.
Ari's POV
I ran outside and quietly climbed the tree Ryuu was sitting under. I wanted to hug him so badly, I missed him so much!I looked down from the branch I was sitting on and he looked so peaceful. I don't want to disturb him.... I decided to jump back down as quiet as the breeze passing through the leaves. He didn't hear me, thank gosh. I walked up to him and tapped him on the shoulder. He didn't move, I looked at his face. He was sleeping, no wonder he was so peaceful.
I tapped him again, he didn't move this time either. I decided to let him rest, he was probably working really hard while ae were gone. I just sat next to him and leaned against the tree. I closed my eyes for a few minutes to let it sink in, I'm home.
Ryuu's POV
I opened my eyes, oh I must've fallen asleep. Hopefully not for too long. I've been tired lately, at night I sit up and worry if Ari is safe. My only friend, I miss her. Its gotten to the point where I dream about her sometimes calling out to me telling me she's returned.I suddenly feel something warm on my hand. There was a small hand! I flinched a bit, but nothing more. I followed the arm....
Wait..."Ari?" I ask quietly to assure myself. She stirs a but and opens her eyes. She turns to me and stares for a second and then smiles at me brightly. She embraces me tightly and I almost fall into the grass from the force of the hug.
"I'm home.I missed you, Ryuu." She says softly.
"Are you really here?" I am dumbfounded.
She laughs lightly and it sounds like bells chiming. "Of course, silly. I told you I'd be back soon!" She says brightly as she pulls away."I know, but it felt like so long." I chuckled a bit. I guess I was the only one who felt like she took forever to get back.
"I mean , I guess you're right. It did feel like a long time, but luckily it wasn't any longer." She's right, again. Her optimism really singles her out from anyone else I know.
I simply smiled at her and nodded. "My break should be done soon," I said sadly.
Ari somehow smiled bigger and said, " Chief said you're off for today!"I smiled and thanked the Chief in my head. Ari started going on about the events in Laxdo.
I'm really glad she's home.

Hey everyone sorry for the really slow updates and this short chapter! I've been really busy this month and I've been seeing the comments and I am just now realizing how cruel it is to call Ari's parents dead so sorry. Also, please keep in mind that Ari is an OC and if she has any similarities with other characters it wasn't intentional so please refrain from comparing characters.Thx again for all those who added Little Ray of Sunshine to their reading lists! I appreciate it so much and am hoping to post more during Spring Break.
Happy belated Valentine's Day (underappreiated singles day)! Lots of love!!💖💖💖
