Ari POV

Kiki and Mitsuhide took us to this room where it was mostly bare. However, they were kind enough to put a bed inside. Kiki and Mitsuhide then left and told us that we were to stay here for the night (we were going to be called in the morning). There was one large window that looks over a path that leads toward the medical wing. I wish I could be a court herbalist! I could work with herbs and help care for all of the people in the castle! Especially all the nice people I met today. I smiled as I slowly drifted off to sleep.

The next morning Mitsuhide knocked on our door and led us to what I assume is Zen's office. "Good morning, Ari!" Zen exclaims. "Ouch, already ignoring me, Master?"Obi asks 'offended'. I chuckle then smile and politely say, "Good morning everyone!" "What do you need, Master?" Obi asks. "Ari, I called you here today because I have a business offer." Zen says. I guess he's still ignoring Obi. "Pardon me, Prince Zen, but I am only eleven. I'm not even a teenager yet." "This is exactly why Ari. You are only a child, but were able to overtake our best swordsman." Wait, I did that? "Kiki," he continues, "trains the guards and has yet to have any of them beat her. I would like to offer you a job as one of my personnel." Wait what?! My eyes widened and my jaw dropped. I am way too young to be in charge of being an aide. I mean I can probably deal with paperwork and fighting. Hmmmm, but I wanted to try for the herbalist exam. I took a breath and said, "Excuse me Prince Zen, but I think I am a bit young to be anything distinctly related to an aide. I'm not saying that I will never want the job and I wouldn't mind working here. However, I think that Obi would be a better fit for the position. Please give him a chance, I know you don't trust him yet but he's really loyal. I am sorry that I am not going to take your job offer, but I have another occupation in mind for my future." Zen chuckled and I got nervous because I thought he was going to get mad. "Well, that was the most formal job refusal I have ever heard. Well, I will respect your decision. I have one question though, what is it you want to be?" I smiled and said, "I want to be an herbalist!"

All of them smiled at me. "How would you like to be a Court Herbalist then Ari?" Mitsuhide asked. "I would really like to be one! I was going to take the next exam if we continued staying in Clarines." I looked shyly at Brobi. "I haven't really talked to him about it yet though. I didn't want to bother him since we are usually on the move." Obi smiled at me and ruffled my hair. I brightened up and took that as a sign that it was okay. "Well, then you should probably get to studying then! Since your brother and I have some business to discuss. Can you find your way back to the room?" Zen said. I nodded and went back to the room, running.

I was so excited! I could become a court herbalist and get to know Prince Zen and everyone else in the castle. I was near the medical wing when I turned the corner I ran into something and fell back. I bumped into the wall as I fell, I looked up and saw I had run into a boy around my age. He had brown hair and blue eyes that were easy to get lost in. I blushed because he was very handsome. He looked at me and also had a barely noticeable blush. I quickly stood up and dusted myself off.

I smiled shyly and extended my hand to him so I could help him up. He hesitantly took my hand and stood up. I smiled again and introduced myself. "Hi my name's Ari." "Ryuu" he responded with a very small smile. His voice was pretty mellow and calm. "It's nice to meet you Ryuu! I'm so sorry for running into you." "It's quite alright I'm not hurt." I suddenly felt pain from my left elbow. I touched where I felt the pain. I winced. Apparently and unfortunately he noticed. "Hey, are you alright?" I smiled and nodded. "It's no big deal, it's just a scrape." I rolled up my arm and showed him the wound. Honestly, it's not that bad. I've had way worse when I was traveling with Torou and Obi. Ryuu's eyes widened and his voice raised a bit, "That is not just a scrape that's a really bad scrape that should be treated immediately!!" He grabbed my hand and dragged me somewhere.

Eventually we got to a room, I'm assuming it's some sort of office, there are a bunch of herbs on the tables and some papers and books were scattered all over the floor. Honestly it was pretty messy, but it was more like an organized chaos. As he let go of my hand to go grab a stool, I noticed this little bed under one of his desks. Although it was on the floor it looked comfy. Ryuu tapped my shoulder and gestured for me to sit down on the stool. I complied and sat down. I felt a little awkward just sitting there in silence so I tried to start a conversation.

" So Ryuu. What do you do here?" " I am a court herbalist." Wait, Ryuu looks like my age, does that mean I actually have a shot at passing?!?! "That's so cool Ryuu. You must be amazing with herbs! By the way, if you don't mind can I borrow some of the bandages." Luckily he didn't question me. " Yeah," he continued with our conversation, "I just find herbs and their properties interesting..... So what are you doing here Ari?I have never seen anyone my age around the castle." Hmmm....well I probably shouldn't mention that I was helping scare off Shirayuki in the castle. " Oh, um, my brother is trying to get a job for the second prince. He brought me along." His eyes had a slight spark of interest. He was about to be done with wrapping my scrape. " That's nice of your brother to take you with him." Speaking of Obi I need to get back to the room so I can start studying. "I should probably get going, it was nice to meet you Ryuu. I will definitely see you soon!" I waved to him as I left and rushed back to me and Obi's room.

Ryuu's POV
So today I was walking to the gardens outside to gather some herbs. I was about to round a corner but something ran into me really hard. Lucky for me I didn't really run into anything else. But I noticed it was a person I ran into. She was about my age and had dark brown hair and hazel eyes( almost green). Her eyes reminded me of how it looks when the sun shines through the leaves. She's pretty. I hesitantly accepted her hand in helping me up. Apparently the girl's name was Ari, the name suited her well. I noticed her hand run up her arm. She came to her elbow and she winced. I asked if she was okay and she smiled and said she was fine. Then I saw the scrape, it was really bad!! I scolded her as I dragged her to my office/room.

As I began putting the ointment she asked what my job was. I'm surprised she can talk so calmly, any other person her age would probably be crying. I told her I was a court herbalist. During the conversation she randomly asked for bandages. I wonder why? Oh well, maybe she already knows how to bandage herself. Oh gosh I probably am wasting her time she might have to be helping somewhere in the castle. I asked her what she does in the castle. She told me her brother was trying to get a job here. I was intrigued, nobody is really allowed to trail along into a castle without reason. Hmm- mmm..... best not to think about it. After I finished, she said that she had to leave. Ari mentioned that we would see each other again. I smiled. I wonder how, but either way I wouldn't mind seeing her again.
