Chapter 8 🤗☀️

Obi woke me up at 1 like I asked. He is a great older brother, I love him so much. I let him know by giving him a huge smile and a big hug. I hadn't seen him for almost 2 days, I missed him. He was the only family I had left I couldn't stand being apart from him ever since mom and dad died. I always started sobbing scared that he would also die from an opponent that was too strong. I managed to be composed once Obi got home from his jobs, so he didn't really know about how I felt. But I was always really lonely without him.

One time I remember when we were with Torou, travelling, Brobi got a really deep gash and I didn't know what to do. He tried to reassure me that he was fine but I somehow managed to make a medicine for flesh wounds. I guess it wasn't potent enough though because it still left a huge scar across his chest. Anyways, thank gosh that's over and if it happened again I would be prepared.

I got ready and dressed in my other soldier like attire. I headed to the medical wing and met Chief Garack, Yatsufusa, Shirayuki, and another person who passed named Higata.

Chief Garack lead us to a room and she knocked on the door. She introduces Shirayuki to whoever is in that room. Oh the person was Ryuu!! Oh no I hope he is okay with me being here. “Ryuu I also brought someone else here.” She motioned for me to come into view.  I took a deep breath and smiled at Ryuu once I came in. He looked shocked. Chief Garack said something along the lines of ask Ryuu if we had any questions. “Ari what are you doing here?” My smile got brighter “Allow me to introduce myself, I am Ari one of the newest apprentice court herbalists.” He looked shocked again but smiled.

Shirayuki said, “ Hi I'm Shirayuki. It's lovely to meet you.” Ryuu went back to his work and replied, “Same here. Could one of you please close the door?” I smiled and quickly closed the door.  Ryuu told Shirayuki to not be formal with him since she is older. She tried to object but he said it would be weird. She said she'd call him just Ryuu, I smiled at that. Shirayuki gave Ryuu the rainbow leaf and cocoa grass. I was kind of disappointed I didn't get to give it to him myself, but I knew Shirayuki would get it.

Ryuu asked how Shirayuki remembered that it should be picked at sunrise. She said she was shocked since it was an innovative idea. He looked at the herbs and said to grind them up. Rainbow leaf then cocoa grass. I was about to go help them when someone rang a bell for medical attention. I told them I would get it.

The man said that he was feeling queasy and needed a remedy for nausea. I called Ryuu, he came in. Ryuu said that he couldn't help the man and that we should send him to the chief. What the heck?! A remedy for nausea is easy. Ryuu couldn't have been a court herbalist if he didn't know some of the basics. So there must be a reason as to why. “I'm so glad he left. I want no part of any concoction that boy has prepared. ” the man said. “Why would you say something like that?!” I asked assertively. He looked at me and responded, “Who would want his help? His principle studies are plant poisons, and he needs a way to test their effects. The only way he could do that is to test them on humans.” “There are plants that produce toxins to help protect them while they are in the wild. These same toxins are used to help sick people!”I tell him. “ Yes but according to the rumors there is a trail-" I hit the table and the bell falls over, so that's it Ryuu knew this man believed the rumors. Ugh people like him make me so mad! “ If you believe everything you hear, you will never trust anyone or anything!! Now do you want help or don't you!?” He looked afraid and confirmed he wanted treatment. I took a deep breath to calm myself and excused myself. I walked back to Ryuu’s working station and Ryuu said, “ There was no need to get so worked up about it.” Shirayuki was in the room with Ryuu helping with whatever he was doing. He looked like he didn't care.

I know Shirayuki felt that Ryuu shouldn't be belittled, that's how I felt. I had been belittled all the time when I was travelling with Obi. You should stand up for yourself. I told him what I was thinking, “Well  you're being stupid! I'll go get the Chief.” I left to the main office.
