Chapter 14 ☀️🤗

Ari's POV
"That must've been difficult for you." Chief Garack says, after Shirayuki explains what happened at Fort Laxdo.

"Not really." I muttered quietly, slightly embarrassed for being praised. (Ryuu also sees her shyness and blushes)
"It wasn't too bad," starts Shirayuki, "luckily Prince Zen and the soldiers at Fort Laxdo were very helpful."

"Well you guys should be proud of your work." Chief Garack says matter of factly.

"Yeah really good job you two." Ryuu adds.

"Well I'm glad that we made you guys proud, it being our first errand outside the castle and all." I beam happily.

"You can take the rest of the day off." Ryuu offers to both of us.

"I shouldn't! Everyone else is still working." Shirayuki objects. "Getting rest is important too." Ryuu adds.
I think about it, but then Ryuu would have more work to do and I didn't get to catch up that much yesterday.

Shirayuki sighs and begrudgingly agrees. She looks back to see if I'm coming with her and calls out to me.

I smile at her and say, "I think I'm going to stay here. I don't want Ryuu to have to work even more and plus I can talk to him more."

Ryuu looks shocked but shakes his head, "Ari you should get some rest, I heard the only time you slept was before you left. "

I froze as I heard that and started to sweat, "U-Um how did you hear that?" He looked at me with a 'really' face and bluntly said, "Obi."

Aww man I was hoping Obi wouldn't find out about my lack of sleep schedule.

I attempt to compromise, "Okay how about this, I can stay here and hang out with you in your office, but if you notice me dozing off you just send me to my room."

Ryuu and Chief Garack think about it and look at each other. Chief Garack nods then Ryuu looks back to me blushing slightly and says, "I have no problem with that."

I smile widely and cheer! Everyone chuckles at me and I start to pout. Shirayuki thanks the Chief and Ryuu then takes her leave.

Ryuu and I get up and go to his office. I wave goodbye to Chief Garack.

Ryuu and I start to talk about anything and everything. At one point he started talking about one of the times he almost gave someone the wrong medicine which could've killed them.  I laughed a bit because I could see his mind reliving the moment. Then one question I didn't expect came up,  "So what happened to your parents?" I froze for a bit as he turned around. 

He looked me in the eyes and saw the distraught on my face then nervously tried to assure me that I didn't have to answer. I relaxed a bit at his nervousness. I mean what's the worse that could happen, he'd be the only person my age to know what I went through. I make eye contact with him and interrupt his rambling, " I'll tell you."
