THE CO - WIVES

CHAPTER 15

JOYCE'S Point Of View.
When I said I was gonna deal with Jackie. I wasn't serious because I had no prove that she was dating my husband. I was shocked when Jeff went ahead of me and abducted her behind my back. I didn't know he was interested in her. That conniving bastard! The mentioning of his name gives me goosebumps..... In a bad way.
That guy used me for all the wrong reasons! I was so stupid to believe that he had my interest at heart.
How I wished he could just die, once and for all!
James had became distance. He avoided coming home all the time. It's like he spend his nights in hotels. He was quickly drifting from my hands. I needed to act faster than lighting to help him find Jackie, if that was gonna make him come back to me. The kids missed him. They missed their dad. I am sure he thought I had a hand in Jackie's disappearance but he was so wrong. I couldn't bring myself to torture anybody, leave alone abducting them!
When I told James that I was ready to help him look for her, I meant it. I was ready to share him, only if he could be close for the kids' sake.
After the call from the OCS, he didn't come back that night and I never bothered asking him on the progress.
I went to the office the following day because I had instructed the HR to conduct an interview for the head of financial department position.
James was nowhere in vicinity and I knew better than calling him. The interviews were over and I was surprised to hear that Diana, our secretary was among the interviewees.
Talking of Diana, that girl has a side I didn't like. She always carried herself highly, sometimes she looked down on people. I had talked to James several times to sack her but he always told me she was good at her work.
The HR and I settled on one man who had all the qualifications and we made a call to him to start work the following Monday.
I also noticed that he several times I went to the office, Diana was ever busy on phone, or wasn't in the office at all. I always asked where she is and the answers I got were never satisfying.
Sometime she would be sick, in the hospital to see her relative and many more excuses.
I just wondered whether we needed her in the office if she was always off duty.
My detective instincts kicked on and I planned to make her business my business.
The following day, I confirmed from the HR that she had sent a mail claiming she was unwell.
The HR had insisted on a Sick off sheet and she promised to send after being treated.....
I knew where she lived.
I called a cab guy who took me to her residence.
We waited at a strategic place but she took long before appearing. When he finally did, she was sumptuously dressed. I doubted whether she was going to the hospital.
She hailed a cab and I instructed the cab guy to follow them.
They drove towards Thika road, branched at Roysambu and we still followed them.
The road in was bumpy but we didn't give up. We kept a safe distance to avoid suspicion.....
We followed them to a slum deep inside somewhere I have never know till today.
Diana got out and entered into one of the mud built houses after paying the cab guy.
We parked at a  safe distance and I got out of the cab. I followed her and I saw her take out a key and unlock a house  which looked deserted.
I was carefully taking photos.
She got in the house after looking around for any suspicious spies following her.
My instincts kicked in. She was up to no good. Having seen where she went, I couldn't risk, maybe he was armed. I got back to the cab and we drove of towards my house.
All through out the journey, my mind was in a turmoil. I couldn't place a finger on whatever Diana was up to but I trusted my instincts. She was up to no good at all..
Back in the house, I texted my husband to know his where abouts.
"What is it Joyce? Can't you let me rest atleast?"
He responded.
"Kindly come to the house, I have something which can lead us to Jackie's whereabouts."
"On my way!"
Jackie was his weakness. I wondered how she managed to capture all his thoughts.
For once, I envied her.
But again, why should I envy her? Wasn't I the legal wife?
Half an hour later, James was in our home.
Without wasting time, I showed him the photos and I explained to him that I suspected her big time.
"Maybe she was running some of her errands. We can't be so sure Joyce."
He finally said.
"Let's give it a try. How about informing the OCS then we can storm the place and catch her unawares?"
I was determined to correct my mistakes.
I had to do whatever it took to see my husband smile, once again.
He seemed to agree with my sentiments and he swore that he was gonna deal with Diana if she happened to be involved on Jackie's kidnapping.
We had to take our chances. We had nothing to lose after all......
