CHRISTINA’S POV
So i’m following the map that leads to you~ The map that leads to you-
I grunted as i tossed my phone at the space beside me after shutting my alarm off. As difficult as it was, i managed to sit up and just stared at the wall in front of me.
’That dream again?’ I thought to myself.
Ever since i said no that day, i’ve been dreaming about it countless times and every time i feel more and more upset. What if i had said yes?
"Well whatever. Its too late to turn back time." I sighed.
It has been 4 years since then. I’m now an IT specialist of a tech company here in Los Angeles. Living everyday the same as yesterday. I wake up and go to work, spend hours checking the database, doing maintenance and fooling around with my friends at the office, then go home, play some League and sleep. Yep...boring i know. That’s why i quit just yesterday.
My boss and a lot of my friends were shocked and were extremely curious why i wanted to leave. They thought it was money problems but honestly, my job could pay the bills for 3 people. I told them i just have a lot of things to do but really...i had nothing in mind. I guess you could say i’m just lost and wanted to find myself. Even if i have no idea how i should start.
I stood up and got ready for the day. A friend called me yesterday and asked me if i had plans for the next few months. Guess he caught wind of my resignation. Anyway, i’m meeting him today at the cafe just a few blocks away. I wore my favorite white shirt, my black pants and black and red air jordans. I took my car keys and walked out, locking the door of my condo behind me.
I arrived at the cafe a few minutes later and looked around for my friend. I saw him sitting at a table by the porch.
" ’Sup Daren!" I casually greeted.
"Christina!" Daren smiled and excitedly hugged me.
"Chill, dude. We saw each other last month. Its a pretty short time to miss me." I joked.
"I don’t miss you. I’m just pretending so you’ll feel loved." Daren laughed and went to order our drinks.
I sat and looked at him as he walked away. I remember just a couple of months ago i didn’t know this guy and after a hilarious accident with a mean granny, we became really close friends. Turns out he’s a freelance all around maintenance crew. Call it a tech geek. He gets jobs as a crew for tv shows, movies, plays you name it. He just poofs from one set to another. But his passion lies elsewhere.
"Thanks. So how’s it going?" I asked as he handed me my drink and sat down infront of me.
"Check this out. I got a permanent job as a photographer in a newspaper company!" He said excitedly as he shoved his PRESS i.d at my face.
I backed a little to look at the card and immediately laughed. Sure enough, his face was there grinning from ear to ear and he’s right hand holding up a peace sign. Daren wondered what i was laughing at and looked at his i.d too. Soon, we were both laughing hard at the geekiness of it.
"Oh wow you do not look that happy." I teased and laughed again.
"What can i say? I’m one happy man." Daren grinned.
My laughter soon died down and i smiled at my happy companion.
"Haaaa...thanks for the laugh. But in all seriousness i’m happy for you, D. You’re finally making your dreams come true."
"Thanks, C. But now, its your turn!" Daren gave a mischievous smile and brought his wallet out, searching for something.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"Look, i know you quit your job cause of one reason and one reason only. You finally realized that there’s more to life than computers, coffee and games."
"Hey! ...What’s wrong with games?" I immediately reacted, faking that i was hurt.
"Hahaha! You know what i mean. Just trust me on this." Daren laughed and slid a white card towards me before standing up.
"Welp! It was awesome seeing you again, Xtina. Tell me how it goes, okay?" Daren said and started walking towards his car by the sidewalk.
"Wha- Daren wait! Wait! What am i supposed to do with this!" I waved the card high up in the air as i shouted at Daren who was already jogging.
"Call ’em and tell him i sent you! Goodluck, Grimmie!" Daren shouted back before going inside his car and driving off.
I raised my eyebrow and looked at the white card in my hand.
"Nick Lawyers, Head Technical" I read the words aloud.
Below it, i assumed was his number. I called it and sure enough, it was a guy and introduced himself as Nick. I told him what Daren said i should tell him. He understood what i meant apparently and gave me an adress that i should go to the the next morning. We talked a little more about the place and time before I thanked him and ended the call.
’Strange...i swear that address sounds familiar...where have i- wait! But it can’t be..’ I looked at the card again and flipped it. I was right. At the back of the card, it read:
"The Voice."
/* Dun Dun Dun! Bria shows up the next chapter guys! :D also, i'd love some feedback from you guys.. tell me what you think.. :D
