Making New Friends

The next morning, I stuck to my word and woke up early but with the help of my alarm of course.

I made breakfast which was omelet and grilled cheese sandwiches, my favorite! And some orange juice.

I then went to the shower, dressed up in one of the new outfits that I bought.

A black floral long sleeve dress reaching below my knee, black pumps and a black handbag.

"I think I look decent for my first day", I thought to myself and with that, I walked out of the house after feeding my cat and drove off to the agency.

I reached my destination within five minutes to spear and hurriedly entered the building, inside being less crowded as the first time which means fewer eyes were on me.

I went to the secretary and she led me up to the office where I once was the last time I came for the interview.

This time I was calmer for some odd reason and felt great.

I walked into the office with five extra pair of eyes watching me and I felt a little nervous but shoved it off. "Maybe I'm just late," I thought to myself but the next sentence I heard after made my inner thoughts incorrect. 

"Good day Miss Megan, glad to see that you're early," Greg John commented.

I said a small good day while taking a seat in the only empty one available, which was in between a male and female. 

The female looked to be around my age, the same complexion, blond hair reaching her neck, seemed to be petite like me and had blue eyes when we made eye contact. 

The male looked to be a little older, he too is around my complexion, golden brown hair, with green eyes. 

They all seemed friendly but like I said I didn't really come to make friends and just went with the flow of what happened.

We all introduced ourselves and found out that they were all new researchers like me and that the female's name seated next to me was Jane Rose and the male was Jim Fallon.

Everyone seemed cool and was very mature looking with good intentions. Although I wasn't planning on making friends,  they all seemed interesting.

Basically the whole day was just us, seating in a meeting with Greg who gave us more details of our duties at the agency.

I found out then, that we were technically all doing the same thing except for two individuals namely Kim Snack and Sam George. They would be scientist researchers and we all assigned to work together as a unit to test the earth and also discover islands.

After our meeting, we went on a tour of the agency and stopped at the section of the building where we would be stationed at.

There were chairs, desks, computers, printers and other stuff you would find in an office. 

Kim and Sam were a little separated from the rest of us since they needed science equipment but it wasn't that big of a separation.

The office was organized with two desks stuck together and two computers positioned on opposite sides, meaning my partner or the person who chose the other seat was really close by.

I then recognized that names were placed on each desk and started searching for mine. I sat at the desk with my name and waited for Greg to continue the rest of his speech. 

While waiting for everyone to settle down, a male figure who I recognized to be Jimmy Snow as his name was on the desk near mine, coming towards the empty desk and figured that he'd be my  partner. 

We exchanged hello's and listened to what was said next.

"So now that you are all placed at your assigned seats, I want you to know that you all have to work together to successfully accomplish assigned tasks given to you. Meaning try to make friends with each other and be civil. Today is the only day to cool out so get to know each other because tomorrow the hard work begins!" and with that Greg left.

"Well this is awkward," said Jane and everyone just stared at each other and laughed including me.

I got to know a lot about them and basically spoke about the disappearance of the workers and them finding out that one of them was my dad. 

"I'm sorry for your loss Megan it must really hurt," Jimmy said.

"I know that he's still alive so no need to feel bad or apologize" I replied with a smile.

Time really does fly fast when you're having fun and I sure did have fun today with getting to know these people. 

I found out in this short time that Jane is very outgoing, Jim is flirty, Sam is the geek, Kim is quiet and Jimmy is the life of the party. I think I made new friends today and maybe they can help me accomplish my mission.

It was now five thirty, we all said our goodbyes, exchanged numbers and each went our separate ways.

I got inside my vehicle, started the car and heard my phone buzz to indicate that I received a new message. I looked at it and saw that it was a group called FRIENDS ☺️ saying that I was added. 

I messaged saying, Safe trip guys!💯 and went onto the highway straight to my apartment.

On my way home, I called my mom, told her about the event which occurred today.

Being her giddy self she was so excited that I made some new friends and congratulated me again for being accepted by my new boss. 

I got home went to the kitchen after my long chat with her, ate some noodles for supper (not my cat) and gave my cat some dinner as well. 

I then, went to my bathroom to take a shower, got in bed early because tomorrow would be the starting of the real work and was fast asleep as soon as I touched the pillow.
