"And this is the guest room that I absolutely hate." I said and they went in then Aaron stopped behind me.
"Aren't you going in?" Aaron asked and I laughed.
"Ah, no, I'm not." I said and Zak came over.
"How about I hold your hand then? I promise to keep you safe." He said and I groaned.
"Let me hold your arm and it's a deal." He nodded and I grabbed his arm then hugged it, not even trying to act like I had more confidence.
"Can you tell us why you hate this room?" Zak asked and I sighed.
"It seems the spirits here have a thing against me. When I was here after a tour, I was dusting off the photos and the books for the next tour. At one point, I was leaning over the bed to straighten the pillows when someone shoved me down and started to suffocate me. I didn't know what happened after but I remember blacking out and when I woke up, the next tour had come in and found me beaten, tied up to the bed by my own shirt, and I had been in that room for at least twenty minutes before that tour group found me." I said and Zak reached his free arm up then hugged me.
"I know you won't want to but I was wondering if you would join us for the lockdown." He said and I sighed then laid my head back.
"Promise not to send me off on my own?"
"Promise." Zak said and I took a deep breath.
"Fine, I'll join you but I can't promise that I'll let you go."
"Never said you had to." Zak said and we finished the downstairs part of the tour then I stood at the base of the stairs and stopped.
"I can't, I'm sorry." I said and Zak smiled.
"It's okay, I promise. I'll stand between you and the rail if you want." I nodded and he stood between me and the railing, Aaron behind me, then we started to go up when I stopped suddenly.
"Evelina?"
"They don't want me to go any further." I said and held the railing attached to the wall.
"This is as far as I'm permitted to go." I said and Zak leaned on the other railing then crossed his arms.
"Why won't you let her go any further?!" He called and we were silent then I stumbled as someone pushed my side.
"Aaron!" Aaron caught me before I fell and I gripped his arm tightly then looked up the steps but I swear I saw some man's face.
"I saw someone's face just now." I whispered and Zak held my arm then sighed.
"Here, just hold onto me and we'll keep going up." I nodded and we went up the stairs then got to the second floor when I stopped again.
"I'm not supposed to be up here." I said and smiled, despite the tears falling down my face.
"I'm sorry, I can't be up here." I said and ran down the steps when someone, or thing, shoved me and I screamed as I fell down the stairs and hit the hard flooring at the bottom.
"Evelina?!" The crew ran down and Zak grabbed me but I felt sore everywhere.
"Evelina, are you hurt?!" Jay asked and I shook my head as I stood.
"I'm sorry, I need to go." I said and ran from the house then laid against my car as I cried.
Zak's POV
"So, her mic is still on but I don't need to hear the audio to know she's crying. Whatever is in this house, whoever is here, they don't like her. They're trying to kill her and if they had their way, which they don't, she would be dead already." I quietly told the guys and the cameras then we went outside but I stopped when the sound guy grabbed my arm.
"She's talking to someone." I took the headphones and listened then heard her shaky voice.
"I'm sorry, I know what you said but I'm sorry. Forgive me, mom, I can't fight them anymore. Forgive me for being weak and stupid and for letting you down. I don't know what to do, I don't know how I'm supposed to carry on when I don't have you around anymore, I don't know where to go from here." I took the headphones off and went to her then she laid against me as I hugged her close.
"You didn't let your mom down, I promise. And you aren't weak or stupid or any of that, you're strong to have been so brutally attacked in this house yet you come back every day and continue to show a brave face to the demons of this house." I whispered and she slid her arms around me then shook in my arms as she kept whispering how sorry she was to her mom.
"We're going to get you answers, Evelina. And if you want, you can back out for the lockd-"
"No." She said and looked at me then wiped her tears.
"No, I won't back down. I'm tired of running from these bastards and you know what, I won't let them bully me any longer." She said and honestly, I saw a little bit of myself in her eyes in that moment. I smiled and nodded then she took a deep breath.
"I won't let them control my life, it's time I faced these bitches head on." Your mom would be proud of you, Evelina Nilsson.
