The man looked at me carefully as he slowly took his hand away from my mouth. If he was worried about me screaming, then he needed not to worry. I wasn't one of those stupid girls in the movies. He was still staring intently at me when he walked to the back door and opened it. Three men walked in, all carrying huge duffle bags. I didn't need to guess what was in them. I heard the heavy metal as the men were walking in. But that wasn't the disturbing part. The disturbing part was that I found the noise to be relaxing. I was looking at the men as they cleared all the pots and pans from the counter, making room for the duffle bags. As they were starting to unload the guns, steel eyes roughly grabbed my chin, forcing me to look at him.
"How many?" He asked harshly.
I slapped his hand away from my face and backed up a little bit.
"Twelve." I spat out. I noticed that all noise had ceased. The men were no longer unloading the weapons. They all looked at me like I had just grew three extra heads. I didn't have time to see what was puzzling them, because next thing I knew, I was shoved against a wall, a tight grip on my throat cutting off my airway. Steel eyes was nose to nose with me, his breathing ragged. He looked furious.
"If I want to touch you, I will, and there wouldn't be a damned thing you could do about it, nor a soul you could tell." He growled out, our noses still touching.
"Not a thing I could do huh?" I choked out, smirking before I brought my knee up into his stomach. He, on the other hand, didn't even flinch. He did, however tighten his already vice like grip on my neck. Black dots clouded my vision as I went light headed from lack of air. Steel eyes let out one last growl before releasing me. I slid to the floor, my shaking hands rubbing my neck gently. Steel eyes glared at me before walking to his friends who now had a whole arsenal lying on the counter. I rolled my eyes before standing, legs trembling a little. I grabbed the wall for balance.
"I said twelve, not a fucking army." I wheezed out. Steel eyes slowly approached me. I glared at him in return. If he was expecting me to back up, WRONG. This was MY kitchen. MY job.
"I see someone didn't get the message." He said, coming to a stop right in front of me. Again, he pushed me against the wall, but before his rough hands could snake around my throat, I pulled a kitchen knife from the rack, putting the tip right on his throat. He looked at me, a mixture of amusement and anger crossing his face. But those weren't the only emotions. It was the last one that had me cursing under my breath. He was curious. It was like a kid seeing a foreign item, playing with it until they understood it or broke it. His men had guns drawn, all barrels pointing at me.
"And I thought I was only gonna be in and out. Why must you make things so difficult," steel eyes said, taking a black curl from my bun, twisting it around his finger. His eyes glanced down at my name tag, excitement filling his cold eyes as they met back with mine. "Tsar." He was smirking like he didn't have a knife to his throat.
I heard a click from one of the guns and turned to look, which had been a huge mistake. Steel eyes grabbed my wrist, sharply twisting it, causing me to yelp in pain. He quickly covered my mouth with one of his hands and took the knife from me with the other. He used his massive body to pin mine to the wall.
"You never take your eyes off of a threat Tsar. Didn't anyone ever teach you that?" He asked, amusement still lingering in his eyes. "Sadly, I don't have the time, nor the patience to play tennis with you at the moment, so I'm gonna get straight to the chase." He said, tossing the knife on to the floor and grabbing me by the neck. We were now off the wall, and headed towards the guns. My eyes went wide and I tried my hardest to free myself from his grip.
"Tss tss, these aren't for you Tsar! They're for those men in the lobby. But you are going to aid in their murder, you see, just like me, those men in that lobby are not good people, trust me on that one." The bastard was talking like this was a simple game of spades, or dominos.
"What you are going to do is simply, your job. You're Gonna do it rather clumsily though. I need you to go out there and spill their drinks, and quickly hit the floor." He said while picking up the guns, looking them over.
"So a diversion?" I choked out. Oh I had a diversion all right. The sick man turned my way, eyes bright with excitement.
"Exactly! I knew you weren't completely dumb." He said sarcastically, causing his men to chuckle. I don't know, what I was about to do sounded pretty dumb. Maybe smart. But overall? Dumb. He let go of my throat and turned completely to his men. I tucked my hair behind my ear, and straightened back up my apron. One of his men handed me a heavy tray filled with cups of ice water. Steel eyes turned towards me and bent low to my ear.
"No funny business love." He mumbled, and pushed me towards the front.
Oh this isn't funny at all. I patted my pocket and thanked god that I didn't put my keys into my purse today. As soon as I rounded the corner, the twelve men lit up. But I wasn't looking at them. I was timing my escape. I was walking steadily towards their table, my eyes darting towards the door before I approached it. As soon as I was side by side with the door, I threw the tray and made a run for my car. I didn't stop to get the key out, but instead got it out as I was running. I made it to my car as I heard shouts and gunfire. I unlocked the door and quickly got in, waisting no time to start the engine and speed off. My heart was pumping with adrenaline as I ran a red light. It was a good thing it was night and there was hardly any traffic. I raked my brain for anything that could lead him back to me. He only knew my name. The only thing that was in my purse was an I.d. I kept my drivers license in the car. I relaxed a little as I continued my drive home. I kept checking the mirrors to make sure I wasn't being followed. I wanted nothing more than to sleep. I parked my car allllll the way from my apartment, just Incase he saw it. I ran the rest of the way to my apartment, practically throwing myself in and slamming the door behind me. I made sure to lock all doors and checked all windows as I dragged myself to my room, kicking off my shoes. I took a quick shower and all but flew to my very comfy twin size bed. I mentally high fived myself at how smart I was in the situation, until sleep found me.
