I was woken up by hushed whispers in Italian. But I didn't want to be awoke.
"Shut it will you?" I mumbled before reaching for my pillow. My hand froze mid air. I always kept my black fuzzy pillow to the left of me specifically for this reason. But it was not there. I hurriedly sat up in the bed, attempting to jump out of it when I was snatched back. I raised my heavy chained wrists and looked in confusion. I heard laughter and turned my head towards the direction. Anger.
"First you disturb me at work, and then you took me while I was asleep?" I chuckled a bit. "You sir, are lucky to still be alive." Steel eyes raised an eyebrow at me from the chair he was sitting in. Across from the bed. Like, directly across from the bed.
"Thats not stalker at all." I mumbled under my breath, sitting criss crossed on the bed.
"Well, in my defense you weren't asleep when I came love." His deep voice was cracked a bit. I'm guessing he just woke up as well. I glanced to the other side of my bed and found it a mess. Was it from me or him?
"No I didn't sleep in here." He said chuckling and leaning back in his chair.
"What am I doing here?" I blurted before he could get anything out. He didn't make a sound. Instead he just watched me intensely. At least ten minutes had gone by before he spoke.
"You saw my face, Know my voice, and ran away from my crime scene. You can't just expect me to let you go." He said, and I groaned loudly.
"Don't give me that typical bullshit. If I had wanted to call the cops, don't you think they would've been at the diner last night?" I asked a bit annoyed.
"Why didn't you?" He asked now leaning forward in the chair. I gave him a confused look before laughing.
"It's none of my business." I said simply, getting even more annoyed. The man looked at me with utter curiosity before smirking. Fucking hell.
"So you don't know then?" He asked me, eyebrows raised.
"Know what exactly?" I just wanted to go home and here he was toying with me.
"Well this just got interesting. Do you know who I am love?" He asked, watching me closely. I sighed loudly before really looking at him. He had raven black hair that fell into his face. I had to strain to see the light freckles kissing his cheeks and under his eyes, lightly scattering his nose. His hair met his sharp jaw line, and he had thin lips. His nose was a little crooked, meaning he was rough. Whatever his height was was beyond mine, no surprise there. It's hard being 5'7. When I was finished I looked at him with raised eyebrows.
"You don't get out much, do you Tsar?" My named sounded like soft bells coming from his lips and I shivered. On the outside I was calm, cool, and collected. On the inside? This man was a fucking god. And not to mention his scent of burning wood. The good kind. He smelled of a fireplace, with pine and cinnamon.
"How'd you figure?" I asked sarcastically. A small smile played on his lips.
"You know....I've been letting the snarky comments slide, but I'm starting to find them a little aggravating." He stated. I looked at him baffled, before I started laughing hard.
"What? Am I beating you at your own game?" I laughed even harder as his jaw started clenching, but that laughter quickly died when in a flash he was right on me, pinning me to the bed by the throat. He was smiling now.
"Since you don't know who I am, let me inform you. I am the one in the shadows, the one who leaves no trace nor scent behind,"
Yea you do
"I am the one wanted in damn near every fucking content." He said, squeezing my throat a little tighter. But me? I wasn't worried about breathing. The way that he was describing himself put one person in mind. One person that even god wouldn't dare cross. He must've saw the recognition in my eyes, because he beamed.
"Dì il mio nome, amore." He lightened the pressure on my throat.
"Ghost." It was barely audible, yet he must've heard it, because he got up and sat across from me, a satisfied grin on his face. This man committed heinous crimes, killed over half of the earths population at least, and ran the biggest drug ring ever known. What was worst was that he was also an entrepreneur. A very successful one at that. But when he committed his crimes, he left no evidence whatsoever. The people started calling him ghost, and it stuck. I never pictured him to be...well, HIM! I was expecting an organization of people for one, and if not that than some old bastard who did well with gangs. What did he want with me?
Well we did kinda sorta...betray him?
Not like I owed him loyalty in the first place.
You think he cares? You probably made a kink in his plan. You don't know how long he was planning that attack.
And who, may I add, put the idea in my head? I waited a while for an answer, but only got silence.
"So are you gonna cooperate?" His voice brung me back to reality.
"Cooperate in what?" I snapped. He was stalking as if we had been over this a hundred times.
"I'm gonna have a doctor come in and give you a thorough check up. I need something confirmed." He said as he was texting.
"Yeah, no. You can't just kidnap me and order me to to get a check up....you aren't my mother!" I said through gritted teeth.
"Last I checked, I can do whatever I please love." His eyes seemed to have glowed. I was pulled into them and I instantly relaxed. I toned everything out and focused on his eyes.
"You have incredible eyes." I stated ignoring the argument that was soon to come. He just chuckled and looked as if he wanted to say something, but then there was a hard quick knock on the door.
"Accedere." Steel eyes said, eyes commanding me to stay still." I broke away from his gaze and glared at the man, or boy? Coming in. He was scrawny, with huge glasses over his ocean blue eyes. His blond hair fell in waves a little past his shoulders. He looked as if he belonged behind a computer, not a stethoscope or needle. I was snapped out of my analyzing by steel eyes, who was laughing loudly. And suddenly I was back in the trance. He had a dimple that appeared on his right cheek when he smiled. His teeth were unbelievably straight and a dazzling white. His raven black hair was now in his face. He should really consider smiling and laughing more. Then maybe I wouldn't be such a sourpuss. Wait.
"Did I miss the joke?" I asked looking at steel eyes as he was smiling. "Why are you laughing?" I looked around for anything that could have made this man laugh. I found nothing except the scrawny kid that came in looking pissed off. Who pissed in his coffee? Is he even OLD enough to have coffee? Steel eyes started laughing again. I looked around again, getting annoyed. Steel eyes must've finally noticed, because he cleared his throat and stopped.
"You do know that you just said that out loud?" He said, fighting his smirk. I looked at the kid who looked as if he wanted to strangle me. I winked at him before shrugging. The kid cleared his throat before walking further into the room, setting his supplies on the bed.
"I can't wait to give her her shot." He said, smirking at me. At this I had to laugh.
"What, you think every girl is afraid of needles?" I said, fake pouting. The doctor glared at me, smile still on his face.
"You know how many times I've had to prove that statement wrong?" He asked me. I glanced over at steel eyes, who was also smirking.
"Well, let me help you." I said, dumping his supplies out of his purse. I threw everything aside until I got to the stash of alcohol pads. Before anyone could say anything, I ripped one open and started wiping my left arm. The kid looked at me in confusion, but I kept wiping. I heard the creek of a chair and felt a heat wave, signaling that steel eyes came over as well. When I was done, I held my left arm out, smiling. The kids mouth fell open, while steel eyes looked excited.
