" a local man that goes by the name of Ronan Wells, has been arrested this morning for the suspicion of being behind the kidnaping of young girl Gracie Jefferey. we will have more on the matter shortly," the news anchor says before the screen changes to an advertisement about mops.
i stare at the screen with wide eyes and in total shock. how? what? who? so many questions. something in my mind clicks and i sit up straight.
"Ace stop cooking pancakes and get your ass in here now!" i yell out. crashing of metal echos through the house and i hear Ace's footsteps as he runs to the room.
"yes bebé?" he asks with a smile. i cant help but take in how cute he looks. messy hair, pancake mix on his cheek, my mums apron on and a small smile on his face. i'm getting distracted.
"you know what i want to know, explain," i tell him. he lifts up his hand with the spatula in it and jerks it behind him.
"the pancakes are gonna burn," i roll my eyes.
"you turned the stove off before you came here," his smile falters and he walks over sitting down next to me on the couch.
"Ethan, Sebastian and i found a way to get Ronan turned in without him knowing it was us," he says looking at me.
"Eli?" i ask. he smiles softly and nods. i miss him.
"you could have gotten really hurt," i tell him suddenly worried.
"i'm fine. just got a couple scratches but he's gonna be in jail and you're safe," he leans forward and kisses my temple and i melt into his touch.
"stop worrying. pancakes are almost ready," he stands up and walks back into the kitchen. i start to think how lucky i've gotten with him. changing the tv channel onto 'adventure time', i snuggle into the couch and wrap the blanket sitting beside me, around my body.
not long after Ace came back with two plates with pancakes stacked and berries scattered across them. wow i really scored the jackpot.
"here you are my love," he says, his accent coming out. so lucky. he sets the plate down in my lap and hands me a knife and fork. i immediately start eating and a groan comes from the back of my throat when i discover how delicious they are.
"these are so goood," i moan through a mouthful of pancake. Ace laughs softly, shaking his head. he picks up the remote flicking through the channels until 'the kardashians' come onto the screen. i frown.
"why do you wanna watch this?" i ask.
"i don't know, the drama. don't question it, just let it happen," he says cutting off a massive chunk of pancake and shoving it in his mouth. i shake my head at his weirdness and continue eating.
once we are both finished eating Ace takes our dishes back into the kitchen before coming back and sitting next to me.
"i have to go back to school today," i tell him. his head whips towards me and he starts shaking it.
"no, no you don't," he rushes.
"Ace i want to finish my senior year and it's almost over anyway," he sits quietly before nodding softly.
"okay if that's what you want, but if you want to go home at any time you have to tell me," he says sternly. i nod.
"i promise," i hold out my pinky finger towards him.
"good," he wraps his own pinky around mine. i smile, running upstairs to get changed.
❁ ❁ ❁
'ignore them. ignore them. ignore them' i tell myself over and over as i watch people turn to look at me before whispering to the person next to them. i can do this.
i sit silently at the back of the class knowing the bell will ring in a few seconds. there's only three weeks of school left and i want to go so i can graduate. the long familiar ring echos through the class and i sigh in relief, standing and pretty much running out of class.
i go to my locker and shove my book in and grab my drink bottle, heading to my next class. drama. i don't know why i'm in that class i just got put in it so. i walk through the double doors that lead to the massive performance center.
half the room is just chairs going up and up until they reach the back and in front of them lies about 2 metres of random space in front of the massive stage. i don't know why we have this or why it's so big, it barley gets used.
"ahhh Gracie my beautiful student it's so good to see you! you look great sweetheart, sit down we were just about to start!" Mrs Greenholm gushes pointing to a seat in the front row and the stage that is covered with the people in class that actually participate.
i walk over and plop down in the seat she was pointing to and watch her smile at me and walk to the edge of the stage, barking orders at the other students. a few minutes pass before the big doors open again and another student walks in.
i don't pay attention to who it is, too interested in the play taking place in front of me for some reason, until they sit next to me. i turn my head to see Aidan Tiller sitting smiling at me.
"Gracie hey, haven't seen you in a while," he says.
"yeah i've been places, here and there you know," i tell him sarcastically. every time i came to this class he makes it his mission to piss me off and he always succeeds.
"oh yeah i heard about that, the whole kidnaping thing. must've been fun," he says leaning back into the chair. i frown at him. what the hell is that supposed to mean.
"oh you haven't heard?" he asks, sighing up straight.
"heard what?" i question my frown turning into a glare.
"oh everyone found out that the guy who kidnaped you, Roman? Ranan? whatever his name was, actually used you for sex. so i said it must of been fun because you would've liked that wouldn't you?" that little asshole. i knew he would make up some bullshit rumor but i didn't think it would be that bad.
"i mean i'm sure you do stuff with your little boyfriend Ace, but you definitely would have done it with your kidnapper, cause you're a dirty little slut like that right?" he says in a taunting tone.
i rise to my feet and lean forward so i'm in his face.
"don't be a little asshole Aidan, daddy wouldn't be too happy if you got kicked off the football team and couldn't get that scholarship you've always wanted, would he?" his face drops and quickly turns into a scowl.
"you wouldn't," he growls. i smirk at him.
"bet?" his glare falters and i see the small amount of fear hidden in his eyes.
"you'll suffer if you do," he says getting madder.
"i'll take my chances," he stands up as well standing inches taller than me and we stand there glaring at each other before Mrs Greenholm speaks up.
"children? is everything alright?" u raise my eyebrows at Aidan.
"i don't know, is everything fine Aidan?" i ask.
"everything's fine," he grumbles before turning around and staunching out of the room. i smile in victory and sit back in my seat. i lift my hand up pointing at the people on stage.
"keep going, it was just getting interesting," Mrs Greenholm laughs and shakes her head, turning back to the kids.
"the show must go on!"
