The night of the failed attempt to stab Frank didn't end too eventfully. Frank eventually stopped kissing Gerard when he realized that he wouldn't be getting anything else in return. So, he just happily settled with resting his head on Gerard's chest instead. Somehow though, he didn't notice Gerard's shaky breaths. Or maybe he just didn't want to say anything in fear of his perfect little moment ending.
Gerard did, however, stop crying shortly after that. He was mentally exhausted at that point in the night, and the fact that he no longer had a weapon at hand to defend himself honestly didn't bother him right then. What he really wanted was to just go to bed, and maybe the whole day would just turn out to be a dream.
"Can we go back inside, Frank?" Gerard asked in a whisper. Frank agreed and led Gerard back inside, where he then untied the blindfold. As soon as he did, Frank finally saw the pain in Gerard's eyes, but he refused to say anything. He knew it was somehow his fault that Gerard was upset, but the thought of causing Gerard to be upset hurt Frank, even though he wasn't completely sure of what he did.
Shortly after, Frank walked with Gerard up to his bedroom in silence, to insure that he would be alright for the rest of the night. Gerard simply climbed into bed with his clothes still on, without any sort of emotion showing. The guilt was growing even stronger inside of Frank, and after a few minutes of him just awkwardly standing in the doorway of the room, he slowly crept over to Gerard.
Gerard barely looked up when he saw Frank hesitantly lay next to him in bed. Somehow, it didn't bother him. Maybe, even though he didn't want to admit it out loud, he wanted Frank to stay by him all night.
It felt weird though. Frank had no idea of what Gerard tried to do to him earlier. The thought of him having caught Gerard attempting to stab him in the back... Gerard pushed the thought away. It definitely wouldn't have ended well.
"I'm sorry, Gee," Frank suddenly said as he rolled over onto his side to face him. With their faces only inches from each other, Gerard studied Frank. If only he could explain that he wasn't mad at Frank, but rather himself, for letting love control him, and making him miss one of his only possible chances at escaping.
Instead, he simply replied, "Don't be", and moved himself closer, up against Frank. Frank's heart practically stopped at that moment. He never thought Gerard would willingly do anything romantic first, and honestly, neither did Gerard. Yet, here he was trying to cuddle Frank.
Slowly, Frank lifted up his arm and gently wrapped it around Gerard. Gerard slightly smiled from his touch, and in return, put his hand on Frank's chest, making his eyes widen with surprise and delight.
Within a few minutes, Frank was sure that Gerard had fallen asleep. His heart eventually settled down as he watched Gerard peacefully sleep, taking in every little detail about how he softly breathed. Gerard was truly beautiful when he slept, and Frank could barely keep his eyes off of him. If he wasn't so tired himself, Frank could have cuddled him all night, quietly watching every one of his slight movements.
He smiled to himself, unaware that with every blink of his eyes, he was drifting off to sleep.
...
As the days passed by, Frank noticed that Gerard was trying to get closer with him. He started drawing things for him all the time, just like he had before the whole kidnapping situation. He started talking less hesitantly, almost as if he didn't care that he wasn't going to be able to leave anytime soon. He even would randomly go up to Frank and hug him or kiss him on the cheek. It wasn't anything too crazy, but it was definitely something.
Frank was beyond confused to what had made Gerard change all of a sudden, but obviously, he wasn't complaining about it. The only reason he could possibly think of was the kiss they had shared outside nights before. Maybe it made Gerard realize how he truly felt?
No matter the reason, Frank was regretting what he had done to Gerard less and less. His guilt was vanishing by the day, and the reason he had kidnapped him started to make sense again. He knew things would eventually work out in the end. He never should've doubted himself.
Honestly, everything was getting close to being perfect between him and Gerard, just like he had originally wanted it to. His only concern at this point was Mikey.
Mikey hadn't called again after the first time, but Frank was getting nervous that he would grow suspicious. The paranoia from it was the only real negative thing he was feeling. Frank knew he was overreacting though. There was absolutely no way that Mikey would figure out what he did, and even with the extremely small chance that he did, Frank would never let him find him and Gerard.
Gerard was all his now, and no one was going to take him away.
However, based off of Mikey's growing concern, he was making progress towards Gerard's disappearance. He still hadn't heard any sort of word from Gerard, and he was beyond worried now.
So one day, instead of visiting Gerard's house again, or giving Frank another call, Mikey decided to visit Frank in person to see if he had found anything out. Although, when he got to Frank's house, he discovered he wasn't home. His car that he normally parked outside was gone, and no one answered the door. Of course, that was normal though; people aren't always at home.
But after the phone call, Mikey was a bit wary of Frank. He just sounded a little off, almost as if he was trying to hide something. Surly, he would be worried too if Gerard hadn't replied to anyone in days, and at this point, almost weeks. Mikey knew how much Frank cared about Gerard, so his reaction really wasn't making sense now that he had thought about it.
As a result, Mikey visited Frank's home again, but later on in the day, but only found that he still wasn't home. With his suspicion growing, he tried again, on a different day and time. Still, he wasn't there. He hadn't mentioned he was leaving. It didn't seem right.
Mikey wanted to give Frank another call, but his paranoia convinced him not to. A part of him felt that Frank was telling lies, and calling him wouldn't get him anywhere.
After a few sleepless nights, Mikey returned to Gerard's house to look around again. There had to be some sort of clue that he had missed; something that would tell him about Gerard's disappearance.
However, after what felt like hours of searching Gerard's house up and down again, Mikey was exhausted and very disappointed to have found nothing useful at all. With frustration surging through him, he sunk down to the floor, cradling his head in his hands.
"Where did you go, Gerard? Please just give me some sort of sign that you're okay."
Then, while lifting his head up and looking around the kitchen unsure of what to do, something strange suddenly caught Mikey's eye. He wouldn't have noticed it if he wasn't sitting down on the floor, which made sense to why he hadn't found it earlier. Under the kitchen table was a rag.
Cautiously picking it up to examine it, it looked as if it had been used. But why was it under the table?
It probably was nothing, quite honestly, so Mikey put it on the counter next to him. Although, right as he did, a strange, yet sweet-smelling scent caught his attention. He instantly picked the rag back up, and smelled it from a distance. His stomach dropped. Was there chloroform on the rag? Mikey had read all about it before on the internet after seeing it in a movie once. Was it possible that someone had used it on Gerard?
Mikey's head was suddenly flooded with panicked thoughts as he reached for the phone. Taking a deep breath, he dialed the number for the police.
He was going to find Gerard, and no one was going to stop him.
