XAVIER

I was anxious to be excused from class. Something was wrong. Very wrong. And it involved Bunny, which made a panic begin to settle in my stomach. Had Candy gotten a hold of her? Was she feeding my Bunny more lies to further destroy her self-esteem?

The bell rang, and I darted out of the room. I sniffed for my mate’s scent, and followed it through the school, stopping at my locker. Confusedly, I turned the combination. Had they crammed her in here?

A note fell out of my locker. I smiled. Nothing was wrong. My Bunny had merely been stressing over the note she left me. That was—

The tiny slip fell from my suddenly cold hands.

We have your mate. We haven’t hurt her…yet. Step down as Alpha or we’ll do a lot worse than beat her up.

I could hardly believe that anyone would want to cause my Bunny any harm. She was an angel sent from heaven.

I vote we kill him, my wolf growled. Then he began whimpering and groaning in agony, Why did they take her?

I knew exactly why. She was the only one on this Earth who’d I’d give up everything for. Even my position as Alpha, which before Bunny had been the most valuable thing in my life.

I called an emergency pack meeting.

Bunny was practically a member of the pack. We were a no-man-left-behind kind of pack. Which meant that we would do everything in our power to get her back.

I ran to my truck. My brothers were there, and seemed a little more than surprised to see me.

“Where’s the fire?” Joey asked.

“What Joey means to say—” Garrett began.

“Don’t be puttin’ words in my mouth!”

“—is that you seem tense. Is something wrong?”

“Bunny’s been kidnapped,” I said, my voice hardened with determination.

“You’re kidding! Who would’ve—” Joey stopped mid-sentence.

“Tanner would,” Garrett mumbled.

“He’ll be dead when I’m through with him,” I growled. “I will have his head on a plaque in my room.”

“A little sadistic, brother?” Garrett warned. “Girls don’t like that.”

I growled at him. “I want him off the face of the planet.”

“I vote that we attack!” Joey said, raising his arm eagerly.

I took deep breaths through my nose in an attempt to calm down, but that just made me angrier. She’s my mate. She belonged to me, and no one else had any right to touch her. Especially not Tanner, who had done nothing but cause Bunny pain.

“I will get her back,” I growled under my breath.

* * * * * *

“Is this everybody?” I asked nervously.

Kurt nodded. “Everyone that hasn’t joined Tanner.”

We weren’t a considerably large pack, but now we were cut in half. I couldn’t help but feel a tad bit hurt. Had that many of my pack members wanted to get rid of me? I shook my head. I couldn’t think like that. They were torturing my Bunny right as we speak. They had made their choice, and I was going to be sure to make them regret it.

“As I’m assuming you all have been made aware of,” I spoke, “my mate has been kidnapped by Tanner.”

There were murmurs.
