I wake up in my bedroom and look around. Either my vision was blurry or there were no details. My arms pull the blankets off me in one swift motion and I sit up. I close me eyes for a second and breathe.

When I open them again I'm not in my room. I'm next to a river.

"Huh?" I say to myself since no one else was around. Forcing myself to stand I notice my chest starts to hurt. Not my boobs, but my heart.

The pain gets so intense my hand clenches over my heart and my breathing becomes rough. I then feel hands on my shoulders.

"I'll aLWaYs bE wiTh YOu.." A distorted voice whispers. My head whips around to see what said that. There was nothing but some fog, and beyond that a forest.

I look back towards the river and just stare at it for I'm not sure how long. The noise and scenery helped me take my mind off the pain, but it was still there.

That's when I hear a crack from beneath me. Everything had changed.

All around me was pure white besides the ground which was glass. It broke, and I fell. And fell. And fell.

I sit straight up from a laying position. My breathing was heavy as I tried to calm down. That's when I noticed my neck aching most likely from the sudden movement. My hand reaches over to grab my phone and see why it's going off. When my eyes adjust the screen says Becky is calling. Before it goes too voicemail I click the answer button.

"Hello?" Damn, my voice sounded cracky.

"Oh sorry, did I wake you up?" Becky asked.

"Yeah, but whatever. It's fine. What did you need?"

"I was going to ask if you wanted to hang out today."

"I thought you had plans with Kyle." She had been obsessing about Kyle coming back here all week for a 'special date' or something, so I wondered what changed.

"He canceled last minute. Something about his boss switching up the schedule, so he works late tonight." Her tone of voice told me she was a little let down which in this case who wouldn't be.

"I see. Well I mean I'm not doing anything so sure, I can hang out. What time and where?"

"I was thinking I would meet you at your house around noon and then we would just walk around town."

"Okay, sounds good. See you then, bye." I look over to check the time and see it's about 9:50. Just enough time to do my morning routine as slow as possible.

"Bye." The call ended, and I flopped back onto my bed until 10:30. That's when I decided to get ready and eat breakfast.

I walk downstairs and don't spot my mom anywhere, so I just brushed it off and made some chocolate chip pancakes. After I'm done I wash the dishes and go back upstairs to start getting ready.

An hour later I was walking down the sidewalk with Becky talking about where we wanted to go.

"I really wanted to stop at Hot Topic. I saw they get new Harry Potter stuff." Becky stated.

"Alright. I'll look for some more chokers while we are there."

It was currently 5 o'clock and I just got home. Becky and I ended up stopping at Starbucks, Hot Topic, Target, and Shopko before getting some ice cream the sitting in the park. We ran into Alex, but he didn't stick around too long because he said he had errands to get done. His dodgy behavior was really starting to worry me. I grabbed my phone and called him.

"Hello?"

"Hey Alex."

"Oh, hey. Why are you calling?" My heart kind of dropped when he asked that.

"I don't know. Just wanted to talk to you."

"Okay. Well, how are you?" Right after that a smile went right back onto my face. I have no clue what is was, but the very thought of him could put a smile on my face. We talked until my mom got home and told me to get off the phone. She wanted me to do some chores before she went to bed. I didn't argue.

When I got back to my room it was about 9 p.m. and saw I had notifications from Alex.

Romeo: Hey are you sure you're okay?

Me: Yeah why?

Romeo: Just making sure

Me: Are you?

Romeo: Am I what?

Me: Are you okay?

Romeo: Yeah I'm fine

Me: Fine can mean a lot Alex

Romeo: I actually feel so much better Jess

Me: Okay.. you've just seemed distant recently and it's worrying me

Romeo: Oh, sorry. I've just had a lot of plans you could say.

Romeo: You know I love you so much right?

Me: Yeah I know. I love you a lot too

Romeo: Alright I'm going to get some sleep now

Me: Okay, see you tomorrow

Romeo: Actually I might not be at school tomorrow

Me: Why?

Romeo: My mom got sick with pneumonia, so I have to take care of her

Me: Oh sorry, tell her I hope she gets better soon

Romeo: Okay, goodnight

Me: Night <3

Something wasn't sitting right with me about this situation. I knew Alex wasn't telling the complete truth, but I didn't want to seem rude or intrusive. I sent one last message to him before falling asleep.

Me: I'm always here if you want to talk.. you can trust me with anything
