Iris stat by the goal post. She had her broom at her right and beside her, Helen Swoden kept going on and on about all the things she was planning on doing this year. Her beautiful blonde hair kept swinging as she moved her head excitedly as she spoke, her blue eyes never settling on a spot for more than a second.

"After all, Irie..." She said. "It's my last year."

"You're right." Iris nodded, smiling gently as she felt the breeze around them from the warm, nice day. "This is your year, Helen."

"It's our  year, Irie. Because you know what? We're going to win this bloody Cup and show everyone Hufflepuff is as much of a House as the other ones. Right?" Helen smirked, nudging Iris' side playfully.

"I like your thinking."

The two of them laughed and they almost missed a very tall, handsome boy walking toward them. But of course, Helen Swoden would never miss an opportunity to stare at Daniel Summers. Iris smirked slightly at the girl, but, so focused on her best friend, Helen didn't even notice it.

"Iris! Helen! There you are!" Daniel smiled and his perfectly white teeth shined against his dark skin. "Come on, we're about to begin try-outs."

He stepped forward and helped the two girls up. The three of them made their way from the corner of the Pitch toward the middle of it, where there was a mass of people squeezed together, in a mess of hair, clothing and brooms. They stood behind them all.

"What are we looking for?" Iris asked.

"Well... We need a Chaser and two Beaters. Lucas, Fogg and Collins were Seventh Years last term, so they left now." Daniel answered quite loudly, as he tried to make himself being heard above the chatting crowd.

"Oh, right... Anthony left, didn't he?" Iris sighed. "I'll miss him. He was a good Captain."

"Yeah. I liked Lucas." Helen nodded. "He was also the only one who could... Wait a minute... If Anthony Lucas left, it means we don't have a Captain anymore. And if none of us is the new Captain, it means..."

"Marshall." Iris finished Helen's thought with a gasp. "Oh, no... Not Marshall..."

"It is him." Daniel nodded, and clearly he wasn't happy with that information either. "George Marshall is the new Captain."

"I was hoping it would be you!" Helen said, quite surprised, looking at Daniel, who smiled gently at her.

"Won't lie and say I didn't." He smirked slightly. "But apparently Professor Sprout decided he was a better option."

"Oh, but come on... Professor Sprout is the sweetest and stuff, but she doesn't understand shit from Quidditch." Helen threw her hands up in exasperation and Daniel chuckled at his friend. "Oh, honestly..."

Iris groaned, but before she could say anything else, his voice cut through the crowd and everyone around him fell silent.

"Well... Good morning to you all. I'm George Marshall and I'm the new Captain for the Hufflepuff House team. Today, we'll be testing all of you and I'll be deciding who gets in and who doesn't, so make sure you give your best because I'm not giving second chances. So... Let's start. Chasers over there... Beaters there... Seekers at my right."

Iris frowned. What did he mean? She was the Seeker. Marshall watched as everyone made their way to the places they were supposed to and only she, Helen and Daniel stood frozen in their spot, unsure of what was happening. Marshall finally looked at them and acknowledged Daniel's presence with a nod of his head.

"What are you doing, Marshall?" He asked. "You have a bloody Seeker."

"No, Lucas did." Marshall shook his head, as he glanced at Iris and Helen at each side of Daniel and scoffed. "You have your post, Summers, because you've been doing a great job always... As for them..."

"For them what?" Helen growled.

"Admit it, Marshall, you're just making we try again because we're girls." Iris rolled her eyes, crossing her arms over her chest. "I know you. You're a great player, but you hate the fact that you have to share space with females, don't you?"

"I don't know what you're talking about." He shook his head, but it only made Iris madder.

"Don't play dumb on me, Marshall! You're the most sexist person I know."

"You watch your mouth, Evans." He whispered, taking a step forward in her direction. Daniel placed a hand on her back and Marshall hesitated. Daniel was taller and stronger than he was. If they decided to fight, he would easily beat him up. Iris noticed how Helen tensed up as soon as Daniel stepped closer to her, but she didn't have the heart to step away from the boy yet. "I'm the Captain and I'm seriously considering not even watch your try-out if you keep an attitude like that."

"You're a prick." She mumbled under her breath and he smirked.

"I'm giving you one last chance. You either go and try-out like every other Seeker, or you can leave the itch right now and save me that trouble."

Iris glared at him and glanced at Helen. She had her shoulders down, as if she knew no matter how hard she tried, he would never place her on the team. She glanced at Daniel and without another word, turned to leave.

"El!" He yelled after her. The girl glanced at him over her shoulder, but turned bright red once she saw his hand still on Iris' back. The red haired girl stepped aside, away from him, but Helen just shrugged. "Amazing job, Marshall, really..." Daniel angrily said, as he turned to face the boy. "You've lost yourself a brilliant Chaser."

"Whatever, Summers." Marshall rolled his eyes, ignoring Daniel and turning to face Iris once more. "What about you, Evans? Going to follow the example from your little friend and leave to make things easier?"

Iris huffed, wrapping her hand tighter around her broom and lifting her chin up. She raised an eyebrow at Marshall and shook her head.

"I'm never going to make things easier for you, Marshall." She said.

Daniel looked down at her and smirked. Marshall rolled his eyes. Without a word, he pointed to where another three boys stood, waiting to try for the place that was hers. With one last glare in her direction, Marshall told Daniel to stand at the side and watch the try-outs. He returned to the middle of the Pitch and yelled:

"Let's start with the Chasers!"

Well... That was going to be a long year...
